Milan Fashion Week is where I hope to find bold and sexy collections all presented in immaculate order. My favourite A/W 2010 representations were seen at Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli. The collections were striking, provocative, and incredibly enticing.
Dolce & Gabbana‘s A/W 2010 collection has been widely reviewed as one of the most emotional shows. At the end of the catwalk, a video was played presenting their audience with the intricate, authentic way they produce their clothes. I was drawn to their simple finale, an ode to classic tailoring, and graceful sex appeal. Sometimes we just want wearable, stylish clothes that will last a lifetime.
I have not particularly noticed Roberto Cavalli’s collections the past few seasons, but this show instantly captured my attention. He has managed to produce boho, modern gypsy at its best. I am captivated by the layered fabrics, sheer prints, draped silhouettes, and touches of fur. They are looks weirdly suitable for both a fabulous party, or a run through the wilderness.

Vintage coat and shorts, Zara shorts, Topshop beanie, New Look boots, and Forever 21 rings.
I am experiencing a momentary style rut. My wardrobe is building into a heap of boredom, and the cold rain does not aid in satisfying my craving for Spring looks. I find myself constantly swaying towards comfortable, monochrome basics, and topping it all off with super warm outerwear. The plan is to have a major closet clear-out, and aid my local Oxfam Charity Shop. The void will be quickly replaced with new, inspiration inducing items .
I will try to put some goodies up on Shop FashionHedonism as well!

(sorry for the lack of proper outfit pics! next time!)
Last night was one of those evenings that has all intentions of ending early, but actually results in raucous behaviour, and memory loss in the early a.m. The festivities commenced with homemade cupcakes, and champagne before heading to my preferred Chelsea hangout, Barts. This discreet bar is located within an apartment block, and has one of the most unique entrances imaginable. The minuscule venue possesses quirky antique furnishings, a family of friendly bar staff, and shots are served in ladies who lunch teacups. Once their lethal teacup shooters take effect, each patron is encouraged to sway to the music, and utilize their weird, but wonderful costume selection. By midnight, the boy was wearing a frizzy blonde wig, our friend had grown severely attached to his full body penquin suit, the table permeated the smell of tequila and sambucca, and a Kate Middleton sighting had occurred. Our reckless, alcohol infused minds then decided the time had come for real dancing. I am not entirely sure when the night ended, or how I found my bed, but our hundred drunken photos tell the story of a good night out.

Topshop jacket, shorts, and beanie, the boy’s random tee, heels from shop in Hong Kong.
Yesterday started with a late, wine fused lunch, and ended with me practically passing out the moment I reached home. Hours were spent teetering on five inch heels, attempting to avoid rain, and partaking in gossip/catch-up sessions with my favourites. I managed to visit the maze of exhibits at Somerset House, and spotted the very tall Erin O’ Connor contemplating possible looks for the Elle Style Awards. The evening closed with a super fresh Mexican dinner at Wahaca, sips of rose champagne, and deep exhaustion. I am very thankful for my thoughtful husband who saved me from public transport, and was happy retrieve and chauffeur me home.
Staying in tonight. Homemade meal, wine, and candles sounds like heaven.
simple acts. happy moments. was last modified: February 23rd, 2010 by ChristingC
I love the constant playful nature that is present during London Fashion Week. Where else would you spot antlers, and full on furry eyebrows on the catwalk? I would love to sit beside a cozy campfire wearing one of these animal headdresses and a white lace dress, munching on smores, gulping jd and coke, while laughing loudly with friends.
An unlikely scene, but one can daydream.

I am absolutely entranced by the geometric angles offered at Louise Goldin. The collection’s futuristic influence seamlessly fuses with her gothic styling and mood.
I wouldn’t mind getting my paws on a pair of those black, platform ankle boots either.

Topshop shorts, boots, and socks worn over sheer tights, Zara blouse, vintage pendant and coat.
Yesterday was just one of those nights…I spent an hour haphazardly fumbling through my wardrobe, not impressed with any of the contents, constantly annoyed by the cold air outdoors, and feeling rushed by the boy. My mood eventually shifted to a darker state, and I finally settled on black, simple, and comfortable. We ended up late to dinner, and even later to a friend’s birthday drinks. I’m not inclined to do anything, but remain lazily in bed while this weather and headache lasts.

Versace leather jacket, Zara vest, Vintage slip, tights from Japan, Aldo heels, Chloe bag.
London Fashion Week has taken off with a busy start. We started on a delayed note, and was enthusiastically greeted by a throng of streetstyle photographers. I am sure the posse is growing with each season, and is starting to resemble the hungry gang constantly parked outside LA’s Mr. Chows. After a half shivering attempt at not looking awkward posing, and confusion about where I should point my smile, we headed towards the crowded late afternoon shows. I happily mingled in the chaos until the boy claimed the heated room and crowds were causing a disorienting dizzy spell, which could only be cured with a champagne break. We ended the afternoon at my preferred LFW sanctuary, One Aldwych. Their cucumber gimlet can instantly detour a stressful mood.
My favourite LFW looks so far have to be Bora Aksu’s closing blush dresses, with their enticing ruffle detail, and feminine lantern shaped skirt. And of course Hakaan’s army of supermodels showing off his sexy minidresses.
Our night closed at The Diner with my favourite fashion PR girl, and a short spell at the Lina Osterman and Metal Magazine bash. Jetlag is still crippling my usual late night sessions.

The view backstage from a few of my favourite NYFW collections.
I felt instant lust for Alexander Wang’s closing velvet, draped dresses, was mesmerized by Rodarte’s ghostly brides, yearned for Rag and Bone’s quirky, country layering, and am building an obsession for Proenza’s feminine, yet edgy collection. And since habits always die hard, my mouth watered as usual for Hervé Léger’s sexy, powerful dresses. The nude pieces will always have a place in my heart.
I don’t usually lean towards Michael Kors, but how hot is Abbey Lee in this opening look? The aprés ski outfit of my dreams.
