River Island dress, Topshop boots.
Best friends are the essential ingredient for unforgettable nights. I met mine at the age of 15, as a shaky teenager getting ready to attend boarding school in a foreign land. Her confidence and nonchalance was the ideal antidote to my insecurity and homesick behaviour. For seven years we were inseparable, spending every free hour at school together, planning weekly drunken pub nights, sneaking out for random shopping excursions, and vacationing on the beach when we should be studying (according to her if you sleep on your textbooks the knowledge still enters your brain.) Her home and family quickly became my sanctuary from boarding school. After graduation she vetoed University, while I took a year off. We immediately moved to London accompanied by big dreams and a huge craving for partying. I pursued a career in fashion while she was signed to a top modelling agency. I still remember assisting at fashion publications, and sneaking her cards into the pile of editor’s favourites. Due to the fact that both of us now live with the boys in our lives, have scattered groups of friends around London, and both lead busy lifestyles, meeting has become slightly more sparse than the past, but there are always moments like last night when we spend hours, joined at the hip, gossiping, laughing, and dancing.

Zara vest, Topshop tank, River Island maxi skirt and necklace, Kabiri bangle, and headband from shop in Harajuku.

Temperatures have risen a fraction, the sun enjoys appearing occasionally, and I have plans with all of my favourites tonight. Simple facts can cause extreme optimism. This evening will involve stomach crunching laughter, vodka fused carefree dancing, generous shots of potent tequila, and maybe a little too much fun. Photo documentation to follow…

Zara blouse, River Island crochet shorts, Topshop shoes.

After 3.5 days of flu and bed I felt a distinct urge to give my new online purchases an outing, and partake in activities not involving wiping my runny nose and coughing. Haphazard attempts were made to disguise my red blotchy skin, and transform less than sexy bed head to presentable hair (lots of shine spray can work wonders.) We ended up with a quicker than usual dinner, and I managed to cough discreetly and avoid contaminating other healthy diners. All in all a successful evening.
P.S. These are my new favourite shoes and shorts. So comfy! I can’t wait to wear them in warm weather…if that ever happens here in London.

Feeling under the weather and switching between reading and sleeping. I am haunted by the beautiful quote at the opening of Peony in Love by Lisa See.
Love is of source unknown, yet it grows ever deeper. The living may die of it, by its power the dead live again. Love is not love at its fullest if one who lives is unwilling to die for it, or if it cannot restore to life one who has died. And must love that comes in dream necessarily be unreal? For there is no lack of dream lovers in this world. Only for those whose love must be fulfilled on the pillow, and for whom affection deepens only after retirement from office, is it an entirely corporeal matter.

Topshop top, skirt, and boots. Tights from boutique in Japan.

Perfect nights are discreetly littered with surprise and spontaneity. Nothing beats love, tear inducing laughter, and genuine friendship. My favourite moments appear when I’m dancing with closed eyes, swaying to my favourite song while holding hands with the one I love.

Thrifted skirt and tank, Topshop silk blazer, Asos heart suspender tights, New Look boots, Georg Jensen pendant.

I’m currently loving Punk as a clubbing destination. Playful decor, dance provoking djs, generous, affordable drinks, and unfussy door staff. The laid back, carefree mood is a refreshing break from the usual elite London nightspots.
Not that I don’t love both 😉

H&M top, Topshop shorts, Alexander Wang shoes, Miss Selfridge headband.
wishing for warmer temperatures, eating out far too often, perfecting a list of spring purchases, booking flights to far off destinations, daily lunches of cappuccino and club sandwiches, forcing short visits to the gym, loving our new subscription to Sky Movies, attempts at djing, and sleeping past noon daily.

Vintage coat, Asos top and socks, vintage leather shorts, Zara jacket, Ashish for Topshop wedges, Christopher Kane for Topshop bag.
Lately it feels that everything including work, play, and everything in between is located a two hour drive away. The boy and I have been spending, what seems like centuries, cramped into a tiny car, consuming masses of junk food, overplaying our favourite songs, and remaining stationary in random standstill traffic. So last night, when the prospect of a week without a ride on a freeway became reality, we left home to unwind. The usual venues are always the most comforting when exhaustion has settled. We accepted our usual table, was brought food without the need to order, and chatted incessantly until close. Apparently I had such a great time, I did not wake until noon.
