Tops from Taiwanese markets, Miss Selfridge coat, Topshop shorts, Mango boots
Last night we headed towards Shoreditch for a Mexican feast at Boho Mexica.  Although the fare could never match my favourite Southern Californian variety, I was very enticed by the notion of tapas.  Tiny portions of soft tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, and tamales is far more appealing than a huge overbearing plate of cheese.  The boy and I managed six “tapas” and fulfilled our curious stomachs by sampling most of what we craved.  The margaritas held perfect notes of citrus and sweet, and the ambience was aptly bohemian.  Definitely satisfying for a Tuesday night.

Alice by Temperley cape from my-wardrobe.com.

I can’t believe this is my first trial run with a cape.  The idea of a standalone piece that is favoured by superheroes has always appealed to me, but restricted arm function tends to make me slightly weary.  That being said, once I set eyes on this Alice by Temperley cape, I was instantly infatuated.  The perfect chic winter piece!  I may have been convinced to become a cape fan afterall.

How to Survive the “Deep Freeze.”

Try to wear sensible shoes regardless of how stylish your outfit would be with five inch heels.

Never…ever run on icy streets.

Choose bars and pubs who provide working fireplaces.

Use any tactic possible, including bribery and faux flirting, to obtain the fireplace adjacent table.

Beg and plead friends to meet within a one mile radius of your home.

A taxi is always necessary, even if your destination is only one block away.

Two pairs of tights is always better than one.  Three pairs of tights is preferable.

Faux fur can save your life.

The boy and I often avert responsibilities in favour of impromptu date nights.  Our impulsive personalities always crave a break, so on this particular night, when we should have been surrounded by cardboard boxes and piles of belongings, our rumbling appetites took us towards the snowy streets for champagne and dinner.  Luckily a million delicious restaurants sit on our doorstep, so making sure the diversion takes a minimum of two hours is simple.  We split the night into two venues, just to keep things interesting.  Appetizers and aperitifs were devoured at The Commander where we took full advantage of their varied fresh seafood bar, crisp champagne, and delicious fresh garlic bread.  After bracing ourselves to re-enter the arctic cold, we rushed a few steps away to Hereford Road where we feasted on traditional British game and delectable chardonnay.  Restaurants are far more cozy in winter months, when you are tempted to coerce a meal to last for hours rather than brave the chilly outdoors.  We may attempt another round tonight.

P.S. Don’t worry, I had the hugest coat on over this…but the few minutes when these two snaps were taken almost caused me to die!

Alexander Wang top, Topshop shorts, vintage Wrangler boots, necklace and ring from Taiwanese market.
I put myself in great danger of pneumonia and frostbite during the five minutes I parted with my coat to capture these pictures.  Being a fashion blogger during winter months can be a dangerous job 😉
Currently spending my days meeting for goodbye meals, circulating the boy and my favourite Notting Hill joints, attempting to keep warm without resembling a snowman, and greatly anticipating my upcoming birthday and Christmas.
Hope you all are enjoying a festive December 1st!
xx

Dress and necklace from Taiwanese market, Versace leather jacket, Topshop hat, Jeffrey Campbell boots.

Had an amazing Monday full of retail therapy, bonding with the boy, and obscure attempts at keeping warm.  I can’t wait for the commencement of December…always my favourite time of year.

The last 24 hours have been a crazy whirlwind of random activities.  Between nearly freezing to death, far too many shots, McDonald’s drive-thrus, getting stopped and becoming friends with passing police, and surviving on zero hours of sleep, I think a relaxing Saturday is in order.  I’ll be in bed dreaming about the beach. Bye for now!
