I slowly wake to the salty scent of the sea and a soft breeze against my cheek. My feet gingerly touch the floor of a hot wooden balcony, as my hand shades my still sleepy eyes from the glittering sun. A distinct smell of coffee wafts from the kitchen causing my stomach to lurch at the thought of breakfast. I quickly slip on a minuscule crochet bikini and speed down the stairs, grabbing our meals and an over sized soft towel. We slowly savour fresh berries and buttery croissants while digging our toes into the welcoming warm sand. I spend the rest of the day bathing in crystal blue water, having light naps filled with carefree dreams, engrossing in romantic novels, and sleeping against the sun kissed skin of the one I love.

…..I WISH….

I need to find a summer home on a hot beach. British summers are far too depressing.

Zara dress and wedges, vintage Wrangler denim vest, H&M necklace and feather earrings.

Sundays are generally the definition of lazy, so the boy and I took the meaning to another level. Yesterday was dispersed with light sporadic naps, hilarious vintage movies, sickly sweet snacks, and general lounging. By the time sunset descended on our tiny flat we actually began to grow restless, so decided to merge with our buzzing street and participate in an evening drink before dinner. Luckily chilled wine and opulent antique decor is only a two minute walk away, and easily at our disposal in the luxurious Beach Blanket Babylon. Any further and the effort may have overcome us.

Happy Birthday Mary Kate and Ashley
Oh how I want your jacket 🙂
This image has been sitting at the forefront of my inspiration folder for months, so thought today would be the perfect time to share. Dishevelled hair, skintight black leggings, lots of leather, and drool worthy accessories. They always deliver!

Rarely do the boy and I spend time sans company during visits to his hometown, so we took advantage of the unexpected occasion and stepped out to explore the bohemian seaside town. Avoiding every usual haunt was a must, so we commenced with a taste of the “finer” side of Brighton, and sipped expensive wine at the classic bar in Hotel Du Vin. I was romanced by the high ceilings and impeccable service, while the boy enjoyed lounging on generous couches and the slightly hilarious people watching. After our moods grew restless we wandered towards venues that carried an agreeable beat, and settled upon the infamous Fishbowl for tequila and music. A welcoming vibe of hippie meets pop won us over immediately, and the large rustic tables and delicate fairy lights added to an already relaxed ambiance. We remained until the music lulled and ended with the predictable tradition of a hazy stroll along the seafront, munching on salty chips, freezing wind whipping through our hair, eagerly anticipating an available taxi for a safe delivery home.

What if life only involved running in wet sand and sunsets that hit the sea, waking to the light scent of fresh flowers and breakfast in bed, dancing without abandon until dawn, mouthwatering comfort food and copious wine, long unforgettable nights and laughter filled conversations, barely there fabrics against sun drenched skin, and of course softly kissing the one you love. Ah perfection…

thrifted short sleeve top, Sportmax top, Topshop shorts and boots, and scarf from Hong Kong.

Yesterday, I spent eight tedious hours in a car (while the boy was driving) with the only goal of picking up a few items. Sounds ridiculous, but was necessary. We arrived home with stiff limbs, grumbling stomachs, a slightly annoyed dog, and of course what we set out to retrieve. The plan had been a cozy night in, but the thought of cooking or making any effort was so unappealing that we ended up traipsing around the corner to our favourite local restaurant. I threw on the most comfortable items in my reach, and ran out the door ravenous for the night to commence. Luckily a generous bite of a juicy burger and a cool sip of wine was all we needed to recover. Now all I need is a splash of sun this weekend…One can hope.

H&M jacket, Urban Outfitters tee, Topshop shorts, Furla belt, and boots from shop in Hong Kong.

The past few days have been spent consuming relatively healthy food, and general relaxation with the boy and dog. I often find our bed the ultimate sanctuary surrounded by piles of magazines, a sizable television, bedside table crammed with nail polish and face creams, and a small collection of books I could read repeatedly. Our only excursions into reality were to re-fill the barren fridge, and a few walks with the dog in her new favourite park. Hopefully I’ll break out of idle mode before the weekend, and actually take some pics with freshly washed hair and a slightly more presentable face.

Until then…

xoxo

I think this may be my favourite Edie Sedgwick imitation, including Sienna Miller in Factory Girl. Vanessa Paradis oozes the charisma of an ever inspiring muse and eternal style icon. If you haven’t already picked up the July issue of Harpers Bazaar UK, you must. Her interview is incredibly disarming and mysterious. I love that her and Johnny Depp call their Caribbean getaway “F**k Off Island.”

Herve Leger dress, Topshop jacket and boots, H&M bracelets, Rolex watch.

My outfit from Saturday night. I decided to go with something that could take me from casual drinks to lots of dancing. Probably the most comfortable dress I own.

Little snaps from our reckless weekend. The boy’s birthday included everything from catch-ups with old friends to inexcusable gaps in memory. We managed to fit in a causal cocktail night, relaxed picnics with the dog, a delicious champagne and pizza dinner, wine outdoors on a breezy summer evening, boozy comfort food lunches, small shopping excursions, and an all out club night that lasted until dawn. I am just starting to feel human again, and plan on an extra healthy week to make up for all the festivities.

More details of my outfits later 😉

P.S. Sorry to everyone who received junk emails from my account…my gmail was hacked yesterday 🙁
