Here’s an outfit from the night before our departure to Singapore.

I am now lounging on a vast dream like bed, in a white fluffy robe, while admiring the breathtaking views from the Marina Bay Sands Hotel.  In 24 hours we have snacked on pizza beside the most insane infinity pool, partied at a Mediterranean worthy beach club, met the very hospitable Far East Movement, consumed far too many oysters and steaks, sipped on vodka and cranberry beside Singapore’s glowing skyline, and slept for 8 full hours in a cloud of pillows and duvet. Spending time here, it’s easy to see why Singapore is such a popular place to live. The culture is so interesting to me and the architecture is so unique. One of my friends is even thinking of buying a condo in Singapore from One Pearl Bank (click here to have a look at where she wants to move). I hope she’ll invite me to visit soon. As for me, I’m all set for another round.  Will share pics soon!

All I can think about is Spring and Summer…screw cold weather and bring out bare legs and feather light fabrics.  Here’s a collection of images which embodies an ideal wardrobe for my upcoming scorching hot trips.  Cannot wait for the sandy beaches of Langkawi, Malaysia next week, but first Singapore and Kuala Lumpur!

Sorry for the lack of exciting outfits, but between jetlag, constant errands, the overflow otherwise known as my inbox, and work taking over my life, I can’t fathom putting on anything but an easy pair of denim shorts and loose top when running out the door.  Don’t worry though…vacation starts on Thursday with our trip to Singapore, and I’ll be pulling out all my spring favourites!
See u soon!

Topshop blouse and shorts, Jeffrey Campbell boots, H&M headband, random bag from China.
Finally a free moment to post!  This weekend has been a intermingled chain of work and play, to the point where I’m pretty sure most half drunken conversations still managed to sway towards business talk.  Now contemplating where we should partake in a Sunday champagne brunch.  For some reason we have never learned to make reservations…even on ridiculously busy weekends in Hong Kong.  Once a procrastinator, always a procrastinator.

Leather jacket from China, H&M top, knit shorts from Japan, Asos boots.

I have resided in so many countries at different periods of my life, adapting to another culture has almost become second nature.  My complete open view of the world allows me to consider anywhere as comfortable as home. Breakfast foods can as easily be cereal and toast as it could be a bowl of preserved egg congee, one year my predominant holiday will involve a gigantic Christmas tree while the next may include gambling and an abundance of cash filled red envelopes, shopping can be done on long store filled streets, in humid crammed markets, or at a vast air conditioned mall.  Streets are anything from historic and grand, rural and quaint, to filled with modern beaming lights.  Meals can be eaten at crowded round tables, by intimate candlelight, over a huge roast turkey, at a typical pizza chain, in pick and mix tapas style, or without shoes in a tiny tatami room.  I embrace it all and actually find myself verging on boredom when anything becomes too familiar.  Maybe that’s why this lifestyle of constant move and travel suits my current mood.  Why only concentrate on one part of the world when the rest of it seems so insanely close?

Sweater from Taipei, Free People shorts, Jeffrey Campbell boots, Topshop hat.

The boy and I concluded that we have been on over 12 plane journeys in the past two months, which is most likely the reason my sleep schedule is a jumbled mess.  Although I do wish I was deep in slumber at 4:39am, I am starting to revel in the peaceful hours just before dawn.  The moment of complete still silence, where phone calls, emails, social dates, and responsibilities fall away from reality.  When it is actually acceptable to listen to light raindrops fall against the window beside your bed for more than just a fleeting second, when the glow of a dim lamp and a heart wrenching novel is all you crave, and the biggest dilemma is breakfast choices in a few hours time.  This morning I’m settling into Little Bee by Chris Cleave, and deciding between a buttery ham and cheese toastie or an organic spanish omelette.

H&M jacket, Urban Outfitters top, Topshop shorts, Jeffrey Campbell boots.

Since returning to Hong Kong we have consistently stumbled into bed far past a time that would be described as sensible, devoured Japanese yakitori, French seafood platters, a 2 am McDonald’s feast, and mouth burning Sichuan food all in 48 hours, sifted through lookbooks until every collection blurred into one, attended a thumping drum and bass party hosted by UK DJ’s, woke past 2pm and was convinced it was still night, witnessed a Phillipino cooking school bake gigantic cakes in our hallway, wondered if we could devise a plan to acquire said cakes, disposed of all tights in favor of bare legs and mild Spring weather, and booked flights to Singapore and Malaysia for later this month.  Who really needs a break?  Not us I guess.

One last winter outfit before returning to a Hong Kong spring!  Looking forward to storing my heavy coats and layers in exchange for light dresses non freezing legs.

Bye Bye Winter!!

One more night before we return to Hong Kong with our little dog in tow.  It is definitely time for a break from travelling… for at least a few weeks 😉
