NYC leftovers.

***

We’re back in London for a few nights.  Notting Hill to be precise.  After weeks of meetings, random travels, and early mornings, this feels a little like coming home.  Sometimes you want nothing more than settling into a cozy pub with friends and sipping wine until dinnertime.  Even if it is just a Monday and there is more than a bit of work to be done.

I have been rushing around to a million showrooms these past few weeks, and have somehow been completely forgetful about capturing the experience for the blog.

Yesterday I viewed one of my favourite A/W 11 collections, Carin Wester, and finally remembered to snap a few images to share with all of you.  I was especially drawn to the unisex chunky knits, delicate tailored tweed jacket, and of course that ridiculously cute furry backpack.  A collection perfect for a cozy winter.  I’m already craving these looks with a side of hot chocolate and a log cabin fireplace.

I’m delving into a new business venture which is the reason for all the recent travels… can’t wait to reveal more in the next few months!

Hello from beautiful and freezing Stockholm!

The boy and I have been visiting showrooms, circulating the city’s coffeshops in hopes of defrosting, and sampling all the unique restaurants on offer.  Our first meal happened to be at the vast and eccentric Grill where each room is dedicated to a new theme.  Their tuna teppanyaki is one of my all time favourite dishes, and the cocktails were more than slightly addictive.  Now off to hunt for another suitable dining spot and maybe some Elin Kling for H&M pieces.

Happy Friday!!
xoxo

Egoist coat, sweater from Hong Kong worn over AA shorts and tank, Wolford socks and Zara boots.

We said our goodbyes to NYC, stopped for one night in London, and are now on our way to Stockholm.  There was one point last night when I wasn’t sure which city I was standing in.

Miss Selfridge coat, Wolford socks, LF boots, H&M sweater over H&M top, Topshop shorts.

We’re kinda into the whole NY brunch ritual.  Unlimited mimosas, ultra rich eggs florentine, and restaurants packed to the brim.  My ideal Sunday.

Last day here, then back to London tomorrow!!

Topshop dress, Mango boots.

I wore this outfit on the random warm Friday in NYC… I cannot believe it is snowing today.

The boy and I hit the Bowery’s strip of popular restaurants late on a Friday night.  Without reservations, we chose the spot with the shortest wait and were so happy it ended up being Gemma.  Mouthwatering Italian food, addictive champagne cocktails, and the most unique vintage decor.  The hour long wait at their crammed bar wasn’t even painful.  We’re seriously falling in love with this city’s spacious, conceptual venues.  Definitely the best restaurant and bar scene I have ever experienced (sorry London, Paris, Hong Kong, LA, Tokyo but its true).

Zara jacket, AA tank, denim shorts from Taipei, Barneys Co-op boots.

Yesterday, for some wonderful reason, NYC decided to grace us with a random dose of Spring.  Between traipsing from one showroom to the next, the boy and I perused shops, went on a quest for the cheesiest New York pizza, watched hundreds of girls and one preppy guy brave the day with bare legs, decided prosecco and hand cut chips are a great combination, and realized reserving a table on a Friday night is essential.  Only a few more days…will be so sad to leave.

Zara coat, Monki sheer shawl, H&M tank, Topshop leggings, Jeffrey Campbell boots, Karen Walker sunglasses.

Between maximum efforts of shielding ourselves from freezing temperatures and constantly shoveling in the most amazing food, the boy and I have been filling our time with plenty of shopping, reunions with long lost friends, and exciting meetings.  We have definitely fallen completely in love with this captivating city and are definitely willing to ignore brutal wind and cold for style, cuisine, and culture.  I heart NY 🙂

We arrived in NYC on a sunny Valentine’s Day, after nearly 48 sleepless hours, 15 hours strapped to a minuscule plane seat, and nothing to eat but salt infested food.  The boy and I are recovering as quickly as possible before delving head first into meetings, showrooms, and the end of fashion week action.  For now I will leave you with a few pics from our last night in Hong Kong, before the New York cold had a chance to hit us.

I’m becoming increasingly nervous about the guaranteed arctic temperatures that will welcome us on our next three destinations (New York, London, Sweden).  While I have been savouring a pleasantly mild Chinese winter, I have almost forgotten the turmoil frozen fingers, sharp gusts of wind, and slippery streets can bring.  So I delved into my inspiration folder in search of fashionable north pole worthy looks that would hopefully banish all dread.  I have concluded faux fur is the answer, and probably a few pairs of thermal tights.  Lets hope it works…See you in NYC!!
