You may have noticed that this past week I have been sporting a new lighter shade of blonde and reaping compliments for the amazing colour courtesy of Kim Robinson.  Last week was my first time visiting the ultra chic and inviting salon located amidst Central’s chic designer boutiques.  Kim Robinson offers a luxurious and private space complete with private rooms for each client and incredibly talented staff.  I was lucky enough to have Kim himself work alongside his amazing colourist, Maggie, on what would be the ideal blonde for my skin tone and hair.  The process was comfortable and open giving you a clear idea of what they can offer while fusing it with what you want for your hair.  I have never had more confidence trusting someone and giving them full creative control.  The result was perfectly sun bleached blonde without a hint of orange.  Everything I have been searching for in a salon and more.

Kim Robnison also has a collection of hair products available in the salon.  My favourite products were chosen as they are ideal for maintaining my messy waves in this insane humidity.  I was instantly obsessed with the HRF Smoother which was perfect after years of dying my long locks.  It rehydrates, tames frizz, and provides protection from heat damage.  The special formula also incorporates Crodasone W which strengthens damaged locks.  A must have for me as I like to keep my hair light and very long.   They also recently introduced an Electric Volumizing Crimper exclusive to Kim Robinson salons.  The small crimper discreetly adds texture and creates extra volume.  It’s ideal to use at the crown to create my undone, tousled style.

Had a single night in Macau last week, and it felt like the perfect little break from our usual city activity.  Think gigantic room with bright views at Grand Lisboa, mouthwatering Portuguese cuisine at Guincho a Galera, delicious scents of sugar and almonds mingling through crowded streets, a single sunny afternoon climbing to view the city’s grand melange of old and new, a Michelin starred Chinese feast followed by the absolute best egg tarts at The Eight, and just general rain gazing and chilling with the boy.  Only an hour away and still feels like another world.

Thank you to Grand Lisboa for the perfect stay.

If you aren’t traveling over this long weekend it’s a good time to reorganize life. I’m not sure why Spring creates cravings of cleaning and purging your home of junk, but I’m definitely caught up in the cliche. Numerous runs to Ikea later we have a far more functional living space and are several kilos lighter in unwanted belongings. It is now time to find a suitable filing system for my wardrobe so dressing each day is efficient rather than mess inducing.
Happy Easter!!

Willing the time between sunrise and sunset to last just a little longer than allowed.  I’m used to errant schedules and spontaneous activities, but recent events have not allowed for the usual freedom I find soothing.  I guess I should just be happy that the sun is shining and an appetizing meal awaits me on a nightly basis.

I can’t fully explain why I’m constantly blogging in the very early am, just moments before I fall into a deep slumber, but it’s hard to find a quiet moment in a busy city during a non-stop day.  I’ve been dreaming about far flung places, slotting my worries in a box for later, and stealing unwarranted slivers of peace with the boy.
Goodnight.

I am a girly girl in most ways, but my lack of sweet tooth always baffles most.  The truth is I usually prefer a big juicy burger over rich chocolate cake, so when I discovered my favourite dessert of all time tonight I couldn’t wait to share.  It’s Ava‘s Raspberry and Rose Petal ice cream made and served table side utilizing liquid nitrogen and fresh roses and raspberries.  Most definitely the most romantic dish I have ever witnessed. The fragrance of fresh rose petals mingled with tart raspberry is impossible to resist.  Ava is serving a special Valentine’s Day menu for the entire month of February, so if you are looking for a romantic setting, harbour views, and food that isn’t just tasty but also pretty you should check out Ava.  Love at first sight.

Do you ever get bored of the same thing.  Doing things that are meant to be exciting, only to find that it falters just slightly below expectation?  Hong Kong is one of those cities that moves at warp speed, a million events litter your calendar each week, and champagne flows as freely as possible if you can get your foot through that door.  Each and every face is familiar, when you see them at the restaurant/bar/store of the moment, and air kisses are given on a minute to minute basis.  It’s pretty impossible to walk down the street without bumping into friends, and one is never quite sure if a casual dinner is actually going to be about business.  You create the dream lifestyle only to miss something simpler.  I am starting to crave the juicy cheeseburger I ordered at Electric Brasserie at least three times a week, having friends I could text at a moment’s notice to meet for cheap wine and frivoulous tipsy conversation, cozy coffee dates that turn into early am cocktails, and quiet date nights with the boy.  I miss talking about everything and nothing, blindly trusting with all my secrets.  A social life void of comparing followers, diets, or all of the above. Hmmm it’s not as bad as it sounds, but sometimes I feel like hiding.
