We are back and reality will resume as soon as possible, but lets dwell over the vacay pics for just a little while longer 😉 Tomorrow I will reply to hundreds of emails, photograph an actual Autumn outfit, and attempt to find order in my schedule/wardrobe/life.

play in the unexpected

Ominous clouds descending upon a beach holiday is always a morbid situation, but the boy and I always manage to make a dismal outlook into an adventure. We allowed our skin a much needed break from scorching sunlight and salty water, and traipsed around Cannes’ Croisette window shopping and hiding from random rainfall in the sanctuary of stunning hotel bars. After spending an entire night being woken by abrasive thunder and lightning, I think today may have a similar fate, although I do see the determined sun trying to break through.

just the usual

I am growing attached to my new, cozy blogging corner. Each evening after an indulgently lazy day at our favourite beach, I perch on the edge of our humble room’s window and quietly gaze at the shoppers on one of Cannes’ busiest streets. Although we may miss out on the pampered factor of five star hotel living, the boy and I have always been partial to renting a home on our weeks away. My preferences sway towards the menial tasks that are necessary when sleeping in a place of our own. Trips to the market for random necessities such as hand soap, purchasing a freshly baked baguette for breakfast, creaky french windows and winding classic stairs, or just the comfort of our habitual clutter makes one of our usual summer spots feel a little more like home. I can’t help but crave to live like the locals of this boho luxe town rather than just experience this easily touristy destination as a passerby.

Our holiday has just gotten a little better due to the arrival one of my London BFF’s and her latest vacation buddy. Lying on the beach with added company and conversation is always a bonus, and having extra cocktail companions can never be a bad thing. Our day passed under the solace of a comforting parasol, hungrily consuming pasta and sorbet, teasing a cute puppy who reminded me of my own, and falling asleep against a cool breeze. Just a quick break until “wine time” begins.

We’re in Cannes!! Just a quick hello before we cater to our ravenous appetites. My entire day has been spent beside clear blue water in ideal 27 degree heat, devouring gigantic salads and strawberry sundaes, and napping until the sky turned orange. I was desperate for a final hit of Summer before Autumn was welcome back. More tomorrow!

The boy has returned from his holiday a little worse for wear and is attempting a quick recovery before we depart for Cannes tomorrow. Although I am currently enthralled by Autumn/Winter fashion, the thought of lying on a beach in the company of a minuscule bikini, stack of light hearted novels, and ice cold glasses of rose still excites me to no end. Let’s see if I have the discipline to cram nine days worth of outfits into a tiny carry-on case. My only goal for today 😉

Currently lounging in my flat, scalding my tongue on honey and ginger tea, half watching old episodes of Ugly Betty, intending to begin another novel, sporadically devouring bowls of pasta, transfixing my eyes on scrolling images via Tumblr, and texting the drunken boy…all while sounds of the Notting Hill Carnival subtly float in the background. Ah Sunday.

missing boy

If you follow me on Twitter, you will already be aware of the fact that the boy and has abandoned his duties as best friend, kitchen cleaner, senior back tickler, and outfit post photographer for a long weekend with the boys. Without his handy cameraman skills it will be slightly difficult to capture any proper posts for the next few days, but thanks to my friend Nell‘s numerous iPhone apps were were able to come up with a few images from today’s girl fest. After two lunches, lots of wine, and a slightly tipsy shopping session I’m looking forward to an all female weekend. Luckily I have a bachelorette party to attend tomorrow 😉

I didn’t manage to get any clear pictures of these intricately beautiful Azza Fahmy for Preen bangles today, but they really are an essential for a wrist adornment obsessed girl like myself. Find the bangles and the rest of Azza Fahmy’s collection here! I’ll attempt to get better shots of these tomorrow!

The boy and I stumbled upon perfect summer seating outside a romantic bar only to be left shivering under outdoor heating in the middle of August. I think Autumn has already descended upon lovely London, but before I pull out the knits and shearling this gorgeous, light Acne blouse deserved to have a turn without layers.
