Top and faux fur foxtail from market in China, River Island leather shorts, Mango boots.

Leaving for Taiwan tomorrow where we will be reuniting with masses of family.  I have not visited my parents’ home country in years, and am beyond excited to meet the family’s new additions, introduce the boy to traditional street food, and take a personal shopping tour with my ultra trendy cousin.  My Mom  also happens to be stopping in at the same time, so my bro and I will be making the rounds that are required of children of divorce.  I’m expecting a packed weekend and little time for rest, but could not be more eager to land in buzzing Taipei.

Topshop top and boots, Bershka shorts, Grey Ant sunglasses and faux fur foxtail from random market.
The weather is currently perfect for an oversize tank, baggy boyfriend shorts, and not much else.  I’m restricting my daily activities to lying by the pool and munching on never ending sushi.  There are a few purchases I want to share with you guys in the near future, so keep a eye on my twitter and facebook pages for updates!

River Island cardigan, Topshop dress, Jeffrey Campbell boots, Miss Selfridge hat.
Lots of friends visiting, way too much alcohol, and absolutely no rest.  I’ve decided Japanese grill is the best kind of social restaurant, sake can be easily consumed in large quantities, and sunshine can cure any bad mood.

Asos jacket, Urban Outfitters tee, Topshop shorts.
Paying for yesterday’s rampant debauchery with a huge hangover.  Lets just say ten bottles of whiskey, six bottles of champagne, groups of friendly faces, and a sparkling new yacht can be a dangerous combination.  Thankfully the sound of raindrops and tart freshly squeezed apple juice are slowly bringing normality back to my body.  Contemplating a tamer repeat on Sunday.

Zara jacket, Wyeth top, Topshop shorts, Asos boots.
Spent yesterday checking out a seriously huge, brand new mega yacht, shopping for lobsters in a traditional Chinese fish market, getting trapped in traffic three miles from home, and making the destructive decision of whiskey shots and champagne.
More pics soon!

We arrived yesterday evening after a practically sleepless 24 hours, and minimal consumption of the sodium saturated plane cuisine.  After deciding my agitated nerves were far too distressed for proper Halloween participation, I slipped on a suitably black dominated ensemble for a chilled night with the boy. We sampled a new delicious restaurant, pondered lychee martinis while witnessing breathtaking views, and realised exhaustion can lead to quick intoxication.  I am currently losing a battle to jet lag, but hopefully we’ll manage to squeeze in a shopping excursion and copious amounts of sushi before heading to my Dad’s secluded “home” tomorrow afternoon.

What is the easiest way to place the material aspects of your life into labeled cardboard boxes?  How do you evaluate the worth of an item?  While I sit amongst piles of my “things” contemplating the value of each belonging, I wonder what causes a possession to hold sentimental meaning.  In an era where all photographs are digital, where music and films reside in our phones, and fashion can often be cheap and disposable, is anything irreplaceable?  Sometimes I wish my life was recorded in black and white, all my music needed a record player, and garments were one of a kind.  I wish my answer wouldn’t be “I would save my iPhone and Macbook in a house fire.” My cherished items include my sweetly vintage engagement and wedding rings, the pink strawberry scented teddy bear I received from the boy in our rocky dating stages, and old school scrapbooks crammed with non-digital photos.  And of course my something Versace, something Chloe, and something Dior.  What would you save?
