Back from our whirlwind semi-tour of Japan.  I was pretty content with the snowy/shopping mix, and have never consistently consumed such amazing food.  The constant presence of vending machines and delicious candy will definitely be missed, and I’m still dreaming about all the amazing boutiques I barely had enough time to dig through.  The boy and I agree if we ever resided in Tokyo it would have to be in a petite, sweet apartment in Harajuku, bowls of ramen are probably big enough to be shared, and the possibility of going back on an only Tokyo trip sounds infinitely appealing.  But for now back to reality…hope you guys enjoy the pics! ~x~

Round Two.  This time last year the boy and I were in Niseko Village and we have returned for another family holiday.  Joined by my Dad, little sister, brother, and his girlfriend the scene slightly resembles a comedic family vacation film.  Our time has been spent drinking sake and beer by the litre, feasting on Hokkaido’s traditonal cuisine (the food here is incredible), trying not to slip in the piles of snow, and listening to my brother gush about how he has never snowboarded in better conditions (he’s slightlly obsessed with the sport).  Our hotel, Hilton Niseko Village, is the embodiment of a dream ski resort and I am pretty certain I would be content watching the snow constantly fall in this idyllic scenery.

In the past 24 hours the boy and I have been on ultimate exploration mode.  We discovered a replacement for our beloved Notting Hill located Electric Brasserie in The Press Room on Hollywood Road.  Who knew such a perfect French bistro was only a short stroll from home?!  We can’t wait to make it a weekly destination and are already in love with the whole globe artichoke and delicious cheese platters.  And who can argue with 50% off wine on Mondays?  By day our time has been spent navigating the subway systerm and perusing Kowloon.  Our eager moods managed to ignore the enormous crowds and snapped up more than one bargain on the other side of the bridge.  The boy was ecstatic to try Japanese fast food stop Mos Burger for the first time and I was thrilled to come across Monki in Langham Place (thank you to the reader who recommended it!).  We are now packing and preparing to head back to my Dad’s place for a quick dose of relaxation and laundry before we depart to Japan!!
