The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo has always been one of Dan and my favourite hotels and most memorable experiences, so it felt so good to return with our kids for an exciting family stay. Stepping out of the car, you are instantly welcomed and made to feel at home by the personable and professional team. We were whisked to the Executive Club Floor and offered treats and drinks while check in took place. Our room, The Carlton Suite, boasted breathtaking city views throughout, an immense amount of space, and a truly decadent bedroom. The suite also offers exclusive Ritz Kids programs for families. Ever and River were treated to The Ritz Kids Night Safari program, and were ecstatic to see a play area just for them. The well received camping set-up boasted a fully equipped tent, compass-designed floor mat, pajamas, curated camping amenities, and a Home Planetarium,’ by Japanese-based Sega. They were prepared with every amenity from mini slippers and safari hats to rubber ducks for their bubble baths and children’s toiletries. No detail was forgotten and the staff went out of their way to encourage the children to explore and play in the hotel. This was such a refreshing experience as parents of toddlers who were previously nervous about city breaks at luxury hotels. Ever and River couldn’t get enough of the food throughout our stay and each venue was able to prepare meals to their specific tastes and preferences. We spent evenings in the Executive Lounge gazing at the sunset and Mt Fuji while sipping champagne. The location is perfect for exploring the city and the staff seamlessly assisted with bookings and transport. If you are looking to make your stay in Tokyo comfortable and luxurious, The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo should be at the top of your list. Go for the views and food alone. We are sure you won’t be disappointed.

Dan and I finally returned to Niseko eight years later, but this time as parents. Ever and River fell in love with Hokkaido last year, and actually talked about snow often, so we decided another family winter holiday was necessary. Returning to Niseko after so much time, we were shocked to see the immense changes and how lively and buzzing the coveted snow destination had become. We were lucky enough to stay in a two bedroom suite at the new Hyatt House Niseko. Travelling with little ones means we always value space and useful facilities and Hyatt House has all we could need and more. The fully equipped kitchen, spacious lounge and dining area, and luxurious master bedroom were ideal for our little family. We loved having an extra twin room for Ever and River and a beautiful balcony which boasted stunning views of Mount Yotei. Much of our time was spent in the cozy bar sipping cocktails and we couldn’t fault the delicious locally sourced breakfasts and dinners at H Restaurant. We don’t usually spend all day on the slopes so were excited to be located at the centre of the Hirafu Village and have access to so much on our front steps. Only a few minutes walk away we had ski shops, popular eateries, food trucks, little apres ski bars, and the always busy Seico Mart. A regular shuttle runs to the Welcome Center if you are in a rush to get to the slopes and staff were quick to assist with any questions or needs. I would highly recommend Hyatt House to families who value amazing facilities (mamas will love having access to laundry and a full kitchen) and easy access to everything in Niseko. The modern and luxurious design and five star service made the stay memorable and comfortable for our whole family. We can’t wait to return.

The Seiryu, located at the heart of Seminyak, features Japanese inspired pool villas great for families and couples. We loved the tranquil design and Japanese details seen throughout the villa and lobby. The kind staff made our stay incredibly enjoyable, and were quick to answer any questions or assist us with anything we requested. The bedroom was tranquil and relaxing and our children couldn’t get enough of the refreshing private pool and Onsen style stone bathtub. Breakfast was served in villa each morning and the Japanese option was very fun and delicious. Having a kitchen on hand is always ideal when travelling with children and dinners were often had in villa after a long day of exploring. The location is conveniently close to Seminyak’s popular beaches, stylish shops, organic cafes, and fun local eats. With affordable price points and so much space, I would highly recommend The Seiryu if you are looking for easy access to sights, clean design and a private pool. A great option for families with kids.

Families this is the one for you. Hop on a sea plane and treat your family to epic views of the Maldives before gliding to a stop in the middle of the turquoise ocean. A speedboat will whisk you away to the rustic island of your dreams complete with luxurious villas, picturesque white sand beaches, fresh organic gardens, sea life in the shallow reef at your front step, and more stars than you’ve ever seen. We were in awe of the beauty that Soneva Fushi offered from the minute we set foot on the Robinson Crusoe inspired island. Guests have their own Mr. Friday who will assist you with all your island holiday needs. They have villas that range from one to nine bedrooms, so perfect for families of all sizes and each one uniquely designed and original for the ultimate in bohemian luxury. Our Two Bedroom Crusoe Villa with Pool was everything we could wanted and more. The abundant space meant there was plenty of room to lounge, sleep, play, and explore, and the generous beachfront pool, lazy hammocks, breezy ocean facing terraces, romantic outdoor bath, and sumptuous master bedrooms made for a truly decadent stay. Their untouched, natural beach was only steps from our villa and boasted stunning clear waters bright schools of tropical fish, reef sharks, stingrays, and even turtles.

It was tempting to hole up in our villa and relax, but the island had many alluring restaurants and activities to entertain us and our little ones. I want to start by praising The Den, which is the largest Kids Club in the Maldives. The welcoming space includes two swimming pools, a water slide, kitchen for cooking classes, more toys than most toy stores, and activities such as baby yoga and arts and crafts. We barely saw Ever the whole trip as she woke up every morning excited to go play, and biked there right after breakfast.

The other facilities were equally impressive including a stunning overwater restaurant, dreamy outdoor cinema, an observatory with a state of the art telescope for star gazing, an organic vegetable farm where you can feed the resident bunnies, and of course diving, snorkeling, and sunset cruises for you to soak up all the awe inspiring beauty surrounding the island. Every meal was fresh and innovative, with abundant salad bars, freshly caught seafood, authentic wood fired pizzas and pastas for the kids, and a wine selection to impress any connoisseur.

Every minute was elevated with their impeccable attention to detail and amazing service. Our Mr. Friday ensured our days ran smoothly, and even ushered Ever to and from the kids club so we could relax in the villa. Soneva are committed protecting the environment and are the best resort I’ve seen when it comes to reducing plastic use, recycling, composting, and sustainable farming. The resort is well equipped and trained for world class hospitality and the staff will make any family feel at home from arrival. We can’t think of a better spot that will cater so seamlessly for guests with small children. Put them at the top of your list for your next luxury family getaway.

Clear turquoise waters, pool adorned beach villas, powdery white sand, and picturesque sunsets are just a few ways to describe beautiful Velassaru. Our family were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff and quickly introduced to all the island has to offer. The entire place is walkable within 20 minutes which was easy on our children and we loved circling the stunning water and landscape. We were spoilt for choice with six available restaurants and truly enjoyed lunches under the palm trees at Turquoise and dining alfresco with views of countless stars and the full moon at Sand. Sunsets were magical each evening as we lazily swung on their hammocks enjoying the serene view and Chill Bar was ideal when we craved an ocean breeze alongside tropical cocktails. We barely felt the need to leave the villa between swimming in our refreshing private pool and snorkeling in the ocean just a few steps away, but when I craved a quiet moment away from the kids I escaped to the overwater spa for a full hour of blissful massage and a dip in their tranquil pool. Each moment was highlighted with impeccable service and relaxed ambiance. We left feeling recharged and happy to have created such beautiful memories.

Club Med Kani, set in picturesque Maldives, is the ultimate dream family holiday.  We were greeted by their enthusiastic staff at the airport and quickly swept away to the five star island.  Our GO (host) greeted us upon arrival and was informative friendly and welcoming.  The entire island is all inclusive and you are given wristbands that act as room keys with credit in case you want to purchase anything at the gift shop.  We found it so relaxing to forget our wallets or signing bills and truly just relax.  Our beachfront villa was only a few steps from the white sand and crystal clear ocean and there’s wasn’t a tide on our side so the kids could paddle around comfortably and safely.  The all day dining establishments were incredibly varied and impressive with international fare and fine dining.  The kids loved the freshly baked pizzas and I couldn’t get enough of the chopped salads, French cheeses, and sipping rose wine underneath the palm trees.  We headed to Sunset Bar each evening and saw some of the most beautiful melting sunsets we’ve ever encountered.  The kids swam in the warm, calm ocean and we sipped tropical cocktails and wine with our feet in the sand.

We were never bored at Club Med Kani with a full schedule of activities to choose from Ever lived at Kids Corner, where we could leave her unattended with the amazingly friendly and well trained staff. I loved that the schedule was active and outdoors including pool games, snorkelling, treasure hunts, and she even learned species of marine life in the ocean.  She was returned happy and tired each day which made dinner and bedtime a breeze.  I am more of a lie on the beach type of girl, but adults can also sign up for kayaking, water aerobics, yoga, snorkeling, and sunset cruises.   There was nightly entertainment and we always found everything we needed within easy reach.

Our incredible stay ended with a decadent White Party on the last night.  The lively staff banned together to make a great show and setting.  The food was a luxuriously decadent spread and we danced as a family under the glittering stars.

We created so many fond memories at Club Med Kani and found it such an easy, enjoyable, fuss free experience.  I think this is an amazing option if you want to book a holiday to the Maldives at a set price and know everything is included from transfers to food and wine.  An excellent choice for big families and those that love fun filled, active holidays.

Shenzhen has changed immensely in the past few years with the introduction of large modern shopping malls, the artistic and trendy OCT Loft, and a plethora of mouthwatering dining establishments. Kids will love the Windows of the World, and parents will love the spas, tailors, and browsing cutting edge electronics. Only a quick hop over the border from HK, it’s one of the easiest ways to get your family away for a city break and immerse in Chinese culture. Even better if your kids are looking to practice their mandarin skills outside of HK. We loved staying at the luxurious and welcoming Four Seasons Shenzhen. The hotel offers all the best in five star amenities and are eager to ensure the little ones have fun too. Book an Executive Suite and you’ll automatically be signed up for “Suite Kids” if you are travelling with children. Our suite was fully set up with cookie decorating kits, juice boxes, a play tent and playmat, toddler friendly bed, and fun details to make them feel right at home. There are indoor and outdoor pools to keep them occupied rain or shine and if you’re staying over the weekend the Sunday Brunch, complete with a kids buffet, is a must try. Don’t forget your Executive Lounge privileges where parents can unwind during cocktail hour and try all the culinary delights on offer. If you are truly looking for pampering their decadent spa is a must visit. I fell in love with their Diamond anti-aging facial using Gemology products from France. The results were instant and I took a much needed nap after the busy weekend. Now with a fast train right to the city, Shenzhen is such a great option for a short getaway. Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen are currently offering promotions for those who book early and even have a “Stay Longer -Third Night Free” package with a complimentary third night entitlement with every two consecutive paid nights. What a great excuse to book now.

From the minute you are greeted at Male airport to that last wave farewell, you will feel like you are staying with family and friends. This is the true impression Gili Lankanfushi has left on us. Only a twenty minute speedboat ride away, this idyllic island is one of the easier to reach from Maldives’ Velana International Airport. Our family sprawled on a comfortable day bed on the resort’s speedboat and soaked up the fresh air while the staff treated us to refreshing ice cool towels and ginger welcome drinks. Before we knew it, our friendly Mr. Friday was greeting us at the jetty and whisking us away to our picturesque villa. Set over the crisp, clear turquoise sea , Gili Lankanfushi‘s villas are all over water and a perfect mix of laid back rustic vibes alongside all you would expect in five star luxury. Romantic four poster beds, glass encased outdoor showers, cushion adorned nets on the terrace, and wraparound windows which presented ocean views from every corner, were just a few aspects I couldn’t resist. There was air and space throughout, and you could even sleep under the star filled sky on the open top floor. A few easy, shallow steps led to the pristine ocean where even River, our two year old, swam comfortably. We spotted stingrays, reef sharks, and too many fish to count on our front step. When we actually felt the need to venture out of our villa the island had plenty to offer for us and our children. Tricycles were given to Dan and I which included a cushioned basket at the back for the kids. We loved this form of transport as did they, and as the island is small you can easily navigate by bike or foot in less than 20 mins. As you all know, we are major foodies so were excited that the resort’s dining experiences were plentiful with fresh vegetables and seafood at every corner. We loved wine tasting with their knowledgeable and likeable sommelier and the Japanese fare at By The Sea was a mouthwatering and fun way to enjoy the evening. Overwater Bar served up the best sunsets and cocktails and we were blown away by the quality of their delicious themed dinners. Our lovely Mr. Friday, Visam, won the hearts of our family and our usually timid children. He was there each breakfast ensuring our days were perfectly scheduled and even helped our children pick out their breakfasts while we explored the buffet. While we partook in wine tasting or cooking classes, Visam planned crafts or child friendly activities to keep Ever and River occupied so Dan and I could enjoy a quiet hour. The children were always excited to see their Mr. Friday and still talked about him a few weeks after we departed. I can’t praise the service enough at Gili Lankanfushi. Every single member of staff is not only willing to go above and beyond, but are genuinely friendly and want to ensure you have the best stay possible. They are helpful and informative when necessary, but also give plenty of privacy when you crave. Their dedication in getting to know their guests and anticipating their needs is what makes them so popular in the hospitality business. We were truly sad to say goodbye at the end of our stay. This resort is a treasure in the Maldives and I’m sure just one visit won’t be enough. Your family will enjoy the beauty and fun, and couples will find all the romance and tranquility they require. You won’t regret booking a few nights and experiencing the ultimate in barefoot luxury.

Some resorts really click with our family, they are perfect for us and our kids. Places that have activities which don’t just please the children but all age groups. Four Seasons Langkawi is definitely one of these resorts. From the moment you set foot into their grand entrance you will be treated like VIPs. We loved the tranquil surroundings and welcoming staff who smoothly escorted us to the massive family villa. To call this a villa is a slight understatement. The two bedroom space is decadent and luxurious with impressive light and high ceilings, cloud-like beds, a cozy separate room for the children, jacuzzi size bathtubs, hallways leading to rainfall showers, and plenty of areas for indoor and outdoor dining. The terrace overlooks the Andaman Sea and steps right into the pristine and quiet white sand beach. We even had a refreshing plunge pool and visiting monkeys to complete the incredible experience.

When we actually managed to pull ourselves away from the villa, the kids loved the interactive kids club with plenty of activities as well as indoor and outdoor play areas. The shared family pools were perfect with waterfalls and fountains to keep the little ones busy, and when Dan and I managed to escape for alone time we fell in love with the beautiful adult only pool. This tranquil and romantic area features private cabanas, poolside massages, infinity views. and grand design. Other perfect dates were romantic sunsets and innovative cocktails at Rhu Bar and a traditional Malaysian meal at rustic and pretty Ikan Ikan. The staff, chefs, bartenders at every venue go above and beyond for you to make sure your stay is relaxing and enjoyable.

Two experiences during our stay really made the trip for our family. First was the Mangrove Tour hosted by our friendly and knowledgeable guide Anwar. I can’t recommend this enough for families of all ages. The boat tour takes you through Langkawi’s Kilim Karst Geoforest Park home to a uniquely diverse eco system. We came up close and personal with families of monkeys, eagles, walking fish, and even a sleeping pit viper. Anwar taught us all about mangrove trees and the habitat surrounding them, so it was not only fun but also educational. Our favourite night of our stay was the beach bbq set right in front of our villa. We had the space all to ourselves and dined on decadent lobster and juicy rib eye steak while watching the sun set. Once the moonlight was over us, the kind staff set up a bonfire and we enjoyed making s’mores and counting stars until bedtime. It is a night our children still talk about and created a truly special memory for our little family. From design to service, and quality of food and facilities, I cannot recommend Four Seasons Langkawi more for a luxury beach getaway. As the resort is split into two areas, adult only and family friendly, it’s ideal for children or honeymooners. There’s so much to do, you’ll never be bored or dissatisfied and the staff go beyond your expectations to ensure your stay is unforgettable. We really hope to return one day.

Beautifully perched above Pantai Tengah, Ambong Pool Villas is a tranquil and rustic sanctuary set amongst the nature of Langkawi. We loved our private pool nestled within the lush greenery alongside friendly monkeys, and picturesque blue seas as an enviable backdrop. Each morning we woke to mouthwatering, freshly prepared breakfasts, and the friendliest, accommodating staff who were there to help and make us feel comfortable throughout our stay. Each villa comes with a driver who can take you to restaurants in the local area or the nearest beach to enjoy a beer and sunset. We loved the privacy offered in our villa, and a separate dining area as well as huge bedroom and bathroom meant there was plenty of room for our family. We felt right at home in the luxurious beds, decadent outdoor bath, and romantic location. A slice of the true Langkawi added with perfect dashes of luxury. Perfect for families and couples craving romance or your own slice of heaven in the jungle.
