Wearing C. by Christing C. Oxford Pleated Skirt, Sloane Square Blazer, and Malibu Silk Tank.

We are departing LA today and embarking on the long drive down the Pacific Coast Highway, heading north towards San Francisco.  Not one hotel has been booked, only a single compact car, and a trunk and backseat stuffed with clothes.  A slight route and a few stops have been haphazardly mapped out, but nothing is mandatory.  I’m revelling in this spontaneous trip, which is heaven for a planning phobic like myself.  I have forgotten meetings, spin classes, RSVP’s, champagne and catered food, and air kissing at events ever existed.  It’s nice to take a quickie break from reality and indulge in fat inducing food, long drives, singing along to the radio, and hours of gazing at one spectacular scene after the next.  I’ll keep you guys updated on the road!

 C. by Christing C. Malibu Silk Tank in Black and Seattle Plaid Short.  All coming soon to Christing C.
Being a beach bum is just too good to give up, so we are extending the San Diego leg of our trip for two days.  The perks of being such last minute people means we didn’t really have our stay in the next few stops booked anyway which made it pretty easy to not show up.  Our method of driving around until the best deal shows up is turning out to be a productive method and spontaneity makes the absolute best road trips anyway.  Can’t wait for even more fish tacos and sunshine.  More later.

First post from Cali.  We have just embarked on our one month trip and have already jammed plenty of activities into each hour of the day.  Extreme jet lag has allowed us to wake with the sun each morning and feast on typical diner food with the early birds.  The boy has become acquainted with driving once again and we have cruised around Southern California, revelling in the insanely consistent bright blue skies.  It was the first time I have set foot in Palm Springs since my junior high school days but we instantly fell in love with the retro and trendy Ace Hotel.  Celebrating a beautiful wedding and seeing a dear friend after two years made the perfect first weekend away.  We are now soaking up sun and sand in the chilled San Diego beach front and contemplating extending this beach bum segment of our stay.  Off to rent vintage bikes and snack on shrimp tacos.  More soon!

Topshop hat and Asos boots.  Dress coming soon to Christing C.

The boy and I had a solitary hour free before heading to Pisa Airport.  We sprinted to the town centre only to discover the leaning tower is nowhere near their very convenient train station.  Luckily we were content to drown our minor dissapointment in a final pizza and pasta before departing Italy, and utilising the wifi in a classically pretty European square.  Our personalities always lean towards last minute travel plans and spur of the moment bookings.  It’s the only way we come across unexpected surprises and spontaneous excursions.  Not everything goes smoothly and we almost always encounter obstacles but it’s all part of the experience.

Dresses are coming soon to Christing C.

Winding through the cliff adjacent road towards our destination was both a frightening and captivating experience.  The boy and I descended upon a picture perfect postcard where bright quaint buildings balance on cliffs encased in bright blues skies.  We only had a few days, but spent every moment soaking up warm inviting sunshine, dipping into ice cool crystal clear water, consuming fresh octopus salad and sparkling carafes of prosecco, taking time to explore winding stairwells that led to slices of heaven, capturing the sunset from our quiet balcony, and a few hours traipsing around the beauty that is Capri.  Our favourite new beach destination by far.  Already carefully mapping our return to the Amalfi Coast.

Dress by Alice Temperley.
June is here and it seems this year is a lucky one for my friends and family.  Lets say many of our close ones have been tying the knot in 2013 and the boy and I are definitely partial to celebrating with them all.  This past week we traipsed around beautiful Italy and ended the journey with a magical wedding set amidst a dreamy Tuscan castle.  Think mazes created of tall hedges, generous displays of rose petal strewn walk ways, winding historic stairwells leading to daydream worthy chambers, rustic terraces bathed in Tuscan sun, and a romantic dining room serving up delicious Italian fare.   The boy and I were completely enchanted by the blissful setting and made vows to return for a week long getaway upon our next trip.

So many more Italy photo diaries to share this week so stay tuned!!

Are you guys a little obsessed with this tied around the waist trend too?  My partiality towards the grunge trend could be due to the fact that I spent much of my early adolescence in Washington State, the birthplace of Nirvana and unbuttoned plaid shirts.  I still remember sporting this trend at the young age of 12 with boyish denim shorts and a crop top my Mom was unsure I should be wearing.  Some things never quite change.  It does make me feel a little old to remember a trend the first time around, but it just makes it all the easier to emulate I guess.  I recommend using your boyfriend’s shirts.  The longer sleeves and length make the statement more obvious than your own.
