Finolhu, Baa Atoll Maldives

We’ve been eagerly anticipating our return to Finolhu, the kids giddy with excitement to play here again. The last time we were here was almost three years ago. River was still wearing floaties and clinging onto those drowsy naps each afternoon. It was Ever’s first few times bravely meeting new friends at the Oceaneers Club without us by her side and both of them were captivated by the plentiful marine life and plethora of stars that decorated the night sky before bed each evening. River doesn’t remember much about that trip to the Maldives. He was still tiny toddling along the turquoise shores chasing crabs, but he has always had good feelings about the Maldives and a yearning to return. One of his only memories from those weeks on the islands was here at Finolhu when he swam with a mermaid and has often asked to see those photos with a smile. His little heart burst when he met her again during this stay. We often get asked if Maldives is child friendly and I’m always very adamant it’s one of the very best family destinations. Not only are resorts bending over backwards to ensure your kids are enjoying themselves but places like Finolhu are even creating moments of magic that will make their trips that much more special, a fond piece of their innocent childhoods.

Our family were able to enjoy a stunning, newly refurbished overwater villa with private pool during our stay. Not only was the villa luxurious and spacious but we had a huge pool surrounded by turquoise ocean, directly facing the colourful sunset. There was plenty of room to add extra beds for the children and we made full use of the expansive outdoor terrace. When we pulled ourselves away from the decadent villa we enjoyed time at the many beaches, dipping into the warm clear water and building sand castles in the powdery white sand. Ever and River had amazing playful afternoons at the fully staffed kids club and they even had an adventurous day on the floating water park. You can also partake in a variety of watersports, meet the resident mermaid at their relaxing main pool, book a selection of cruises, or have a cinema evening under the stars.

Dining options are a huge highlight with mouthwatering world cuisines and scenic dining venues included in their all inclusive package. Check out the rustic and delicious Crab Shack on their picturesque sandbank or delve into Japanese fare overwater at Kansuan. Feast on Middle Eastern flavours at Arabian Grill or enjoy the mouthwatering array at the daily buffet served at Beach Kitchen. There was always something for everyone and no request was too large for our picky children.

If you’re looking for family friendly, luxurious amenities, a large varied island with stunning villas this is an amazing choice for your Maldives getaway.
