This colour has been following me all summer. I have never really considered the shade, but it seems to work perfectly on a dress and against sun kissed skin.

Spent a fun weekend with the boy discovering new favourite haunts, and impromptu meals and cocktails. I am very partial to the bohemian French vibe taking over Sheung Wan, and La Cabane, Les Fils a Maman, and La Cantoche are now definite places that keep me returning for more. It was nice to have a few hours escaping from reality and chatting about everything and nothing. Monday is starting to seem more daunting by the minute and it doesn’t help that I slept until 2pm. Sometimes I think I may exist in permanent jet lag mode. Off to wake myself up with a work-out. More later.

First post of 2013! We counted down to a new year on Jeju Island, which was slightly random considering I only just discovered it’s existence a week ago when our tickets were booked. I can’t complain about feeling like I’m floating in the middle of nowhere, eating insanely expensive seafood, and catching more than a few sheets of snow for a happy year’s end though. This time of year always brings forth talk of big plans and what the future may hold. I’m looking forward to each moment that will be revealed.

Birthday week has commenced (not till Friday) and because this year my bday falls on the day everyone is predicting will be the end of the world we are doing several celebratory acitivites to make it extra special. It all started with Zuma brunch on a Sunday, which may be one of my favourite things in the world. Who can really pass up a sushi/japanese buffet and free flow Veuve? Not I. Can’t wait to return for the Saturday session soon. I hear its even better, mainly for the extra hour of enjoyment your are allowed.

Barely have a moment to breathe. Planned a million nights in only to pile my days without a spare minute. Birthday week commences on Sunday and Christmas will follow very soon after. Looking forward to quiet nights with the ones I love, and for the city become slightly more silent than the million parties that currently dominate my every move.

On a high note, I’m excited the weather is cold enough for one of my favourite coats. Who knew something from Zara would be such a forever staple in my winter wardrobe??

When you spend most of the year sharing the majority of a day with someone else, being alone can become an awkward endeavour. I find myself daydreaming at a whim, confused about what exact time to consume food, and wandering aimlessly through shops as if a schedule doesn’t exist. I am always reminded of the episode of Sex and the City where Carrie shares her “secret single behaviour.” The things you would never do if your boyfriend was around. I like to ride my exercise bike while watching old episodes of Greys Anatomy, eat food so spicy my face turns tomato red, and sleep far past noon without a care in the world.

What is your secret single behaviour??

a single soul dwelling in two bodies

Being handed a series of confusing thoughts, a list of uncertanties, wondering what to trust. My instinct is to run full speed ahead and contemplate the consequences on a later date, but finding yourself in a relatively new place opens the door for a questioning mind. I value full hearted smiles, unrestricted laughter, unguarded loyalty, and genuine support. Those close to my heart say I’m vulnerable, too quick to give and so easy to wound. The truth is I find it impossible not to care, my instinct is always to help, and worries constantly plague my mind when I can’t turn around with out guessing what they may say. But for now all I can do is stand tall, brave the daunting path, and hope I dont fall along the way. Taking small steps until I find the courage to run.

I heart date nights with the boy. Over ordering at new Peruvian restaurant Chicha, running through incessant rain fall. musing over cocktail menus, cozy corners in dimly lit wine bars, and general banter that doesn’t require a second of self concious behaviour.

It’s been a quiet weekend of chilled long dinners, reading in bed, and waking up far past noon. I’m almost consistently confused when looking at the clock. It feels good to lose myself a little, step outside of my thoughts, and imagine everything is just that easy.

Date night with the boy is so essential after 48 hours of craziness with friends. I wore my comfiest knitwear and dined on our favourite steak with a side of wine. Catching up, dying over the best apple crumble, laughing about nothing, and going to bed early is probably the best way to spend a Monday night.
