Hoshino Resort’s TOMAMU has always been one of our family’s favourite winter destinations.  Located in picturesque Hokkaido, the sprawling five star property boasts world class facilities, delicious and varied dining options, incredible slopes and ski lessons, as well as a plethora of activities to suit all ages.

We stayed in Risonare, the resort’s all suites tower where guests will be treated to a spacious room ideal for families.  We loved the incredible jacuzzi bath with snowy views and gigantic bedrooms and separate lounge.  We could choose from several buffet breakfasts to start our day ranging from gourmet traditional Japanese options to local seafood and classic western.  Our children couldn’t get enough of all the fun activities from swimming in Mina-Mina Beach, Japan’s largest indoor wave pool, to quad bike rides through the stunning scenery, private ski lessons on the adventurous slopes and even a visit to Hoshino’s spectacular Ice Village.

Boasting over 20 restaurants in TOMAMU we loved sampling all the different buffets, local specialities, and even a classic Hokkaido soup curry.  Families will love grilling together at the Jingisukan at Hokkaido Jingisukan KING and Hotalu Street is a fun ski in ski out spot for foodies.  Take the gondola up to the top of the mountain to enjoy a scenic Cloud Walk, admire the Forest of Frost Tree and sample the cloud themed cafe beverages and treats at Kumo Cafe.

Asahikawa, located on the picturesque island of Hokkaido, is an amazing winter family destination. Known for its famous Asahiyama Zoo, you’ll have a one of a kind experience visiting polar bears, penguins, and seals in snowy conditions.  We loved staying at OMO7 during our trip and making ourselves at home in the cozy property.  The welcoming staff and interactive lobby area ensures guests have everything they need from a plethora of amenities to a relaxing reading nook and even their QR powered Go Kinjo Map to find the best local hot spots.  If you’re travelling with children or love a zoo theme make sure to check out OMO’s animal dedicated guestrooms.  We were lucky enough to book the Polar Bear Room which was modern, comfortable, and perfectly decorated down to every detail.  Foodie experiences are a must in Asahikawa starting with OMO7’s mouthwatering breakfast buffet.  You can take a tour with an Omo Ranger who will give you tips on all the best eats and historic streets or where to sample the city’s famous ramen and yakitori.  Don’t miss their evening Shime Parfait which was just as impressive in display as it was in taste. We began the festive season with a memorable family getaway thanks to Intercontinental Osaka.  The luxurious hotel set at the heart of the city is the ideal jumping off point for exploring foodie spots, iconic streets, the historic Osaka Castle, and even easy train links to nearby Nara and Kyoto.  We loved our sprawling two bedroom suite complete with 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, a spacious lounge, dining room and kitchen, and spectacular city views.  We had plenty of space for a family of four and the and amenities made travelling with children that much easier.   Other five star facilities included a state of the art fitness center, spa and indoor pool, and mouthwatering dining outlets.  We loved the sprawling breakfast buffet each morning complete with traditional Japanese options, delectable pastries, and made to order eggs.  Service was impeccable throughout our stay and we enjoyed the personal touches that ensured our family felt right at home.  An amazing choice for your family‘s next trip to Osaka.

Our second visit to Reethi Faru and it’s just as stunning as we remember.  Last time River was only two and we still remembered it fondly as one of the most beautiful islands we’d ever seen. The rustic and comfortable villas are great for families and couples and we enjoyed having a private jacuzzi just steps from the crystal clear ocean.  Besides snorkelling and kayaking in the pristine ocean and exploring the abundant house reef, we enjoyed lazy days poolside and at the beach, the variety of tropical bars and delicious restaurants and walking around the idyllic scene.  The 24 hour overwater restaurant is an amazing spot to enjoy mouthwatering fare and incredible views, and Reethi Grill serves insanely fresh seafood and spicy Indian tandoori.  Magical moments included spotting a turtle just as we finished lunch, a huge pod of dolphins swimming by during a leisurely morning at the beach, a sky full of constellations as we dined overwater under the moonlight, and vibrant sunsets that magically lit up the entire sky.
