rain is falling and I’m calling out to you

Sundays are perfect for lazing about in walkable footwear,  playing dress up with a million prints and layers, and fun catch up dates over comfort food. The boy and I indulged in a late lunch of hot dogs and poutine, strolled around a weirdly deserted Sheung Wan, and enjoyed the breezy Spring air.  After a chilled Saturday and brunch less Sunday I am feeling slightly healthier than my usual hedonistic self.  Don’t worry the boring behaviour won’t last, but we just needed a little break and time to recharge.

After a long week of indulgent dining, working until sunrise, and the craziest of Fridays I am ready for a night in bed. Probably doesn’t help that spent most of today in bed feeling more than a little under the weather, but cozy and under covers is where I plan on staying tonight. Sleepy Saturday nights are the best kind.

bright days against starry nights

Willing the time between sunrise and sunset to last just a little longer than allowed.  I’m used to errant schedules and spontaneous activities, but recent events have not allowed for the usual freedom I find soothing.  I guess I should just be happy that the sun is shining and an appetizing meal awaits me on a nightly basis.

waiting for tomorrow

Mondays are the most mundane of all days. I try my best to soften the reality blow, plan as little as possible and even treat myself to weekend mimicking moments, but the truth always sits atop your worries and thoughts. The pressure of accomplishing and knowing the expectations of the week. Should I or shouldn’t I juice fast? Does two hours at the gym wipe away Sunday’s sins? How many emails are shouting for responsible girl responses? I think responsible me is often so fake. I’ll always be the girl that craves staying as long as possible in bed, refuses to understand the simple math behind calorie counting, and avoids daunting tasks with a truly believable feigned ignorance. Hope your mind is swirling a little less than mine today.

before you wake

I love late nights where I snuggle under two marshmallow white duvets, hiding from the blasting arctic air conditioning preferred by the boy. The slow hum of his sleeping breath playing on repeat while I sip searing hot tea and read in the dark. He glues himself to my side, habitually reaching for me every few hours. I get lost in movies, words and images falling into deep daydreams rather than sleep. My eyes tire just as the sun rises when I cuddle deeper into bed and involuntarily fall into a exhausted yet content slumber.
