Arashiyama is perfect for a summer day in Kyoto. The iconic bamboo forest provides much needed shade and cooler temps and our children loved dipping their feet into the river after a day of sightseeing
Here’s a little guide from our stay in the popular Kyoto neighbourhood.
Stay: Book a room at the modern and sleek MUNI KYOTO where you’ll have a private balcony with tranquil views and mouthwatering breakfast service. We loved the incredible service, stylish design, and amazing location.
Visit: Aside from the world famous Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, we recommend visiting the Tenryuji Temple, renting a boat to paddle along the river, and shopping for delicious treats and souvenirs on Saga Toriimoto Street. If you’re craving a dip in a traditional onsen head to Fu-fu-no-yu for an authentic experience.
Eat: Sushi Naritaya is classic a traditional sushi bar experience and we loved the fast and easy udon lunch sets at Yosiya. Pizzeria Lugara is Italian owned and serves mouthwatering woodfired pizzas, and Gelato Shinpachi is a must for ice cream and fruit sodas. Arashiyama Mama is the cutest date night spot and grab a coffee at the most aesthetic % ARABICA right on the river.
A perfect stop in Kyoto for iconic sights and tranquil vibes.
