It has been an insanely relaxed weekend and I’m a little too sleepy to let it end. I love having friends accompany me to my Dad’s sanctuary, or as they say the “ChristingC Compound,” for bonding time away from the crowded city. I’m not sure if it’s the air, absence of credit card transactions, free flow food and wine, or the fact that there is never a single chance you could bump into a familiar face, but this place defines the word chill. I stomp around in my pajamas and wet hair, you daily brain power is used to decide between a massage or facial, and the meals are guaranteed to be fresh and delicious. It’s always nice to reveal another side of yourself, to shed every vanity, to lose pretentious behaviour, and share this little piece of my life and family with new friends. Come back soon 😀

Sometimes I wonder when everyone became so dramatic. As a child you believe it’s so easy. The formula is so mundane and enforced, there isn’t any courage to reach outside that box. Go to school, find a job, locate a husband, create a family. Live in a mediocre/nice house, have dinner at 6pm, go on vacation once a year to somewhere that can provide sunshine, preferably Hawaii. Was it like that in your suburb in the middle of somewhere America? At the age of fifteen I quickly hopped out of that box, took the first opportunity to shock those around me and I guess I have been thrashing at those boundaries since. If you tell me this isn’t a real job, if you tell me I’m old enough to do certain things, if you try to make me grow up, I will fight with you even more. Maybe we are dramatic because it’s more interesting. Maybe it makes it easier to find your way. Maybe you should just stop to listen. Would you rather be a little lost and fragile, than what they told you to be?

I am so excited to tell you guys that I have been selected to compete in the 2012 ASOS Future Stylist competition!
Here is my first look. The theme of the round one was “dressing up denim” and to choose a piece from Asos’ sweetly bright “candy box denim” collection. I predictably lunged for the bright, neon pink shorts and gave the outfit a grunge feel by pairing the cute shorts with a slouchy beanie and over sized kimono.

Preparations are in full gear here in Hong Kong and everyone is awaiting their Chinese New Year celebration. The boy and I are all packed and ready to cross the busy border into China to spend the holiday with the family. I’m anticipating copious platters of steaming traditional cuisine, wine flowing in abuandance, laughter ringing throughout the night, fire crackers popping into the early am, playful attempts at gambling, and a few festive red envelopes.

We have arrived home safely and I’m snuggly tucked in bed feeling a little under the weather. I am such a magnet for post holiday flu. This last trip was the perfect antidote to a crazily busy year, and I’m pretty sure it’s the first time the boy and I fully relaxed in months. Unfortunately between all the eating, sunning, swimming, and cocktailing we forgot to pick up the giant camera and snap a few outfit shots. Don’t worry, our holdiay is pretty heavily captured via iPhone (wow we are so 2012) so in case you don’t follow me on Instagram, here is a little diary of our trip!
Back to real life, real outfit posting tomorrow 😉
It’s the last day in paradise and I’m reluctant to return to reality. We have just over 24 hours to soak up as much sun and sand as one can handle. The boy and I have been on a hundred bumpy tuk tuk rides, ventured out to discover the most seculded stunning beaches, drank rum infused pineappe cocktails by the bucket or half watermelon full, consumed the freshest lime drenched spicy seafood, immersed ourselves in the heaven worthy sunsets, and fully relaxed for the first time in forever. I’m off to enjoy our last day, but I’ll leave you with a few snapshots.

After lots of flights, buses, ferries, and whatnot we are finally settled in our cute villa in Koh Phangan. It’s pefectly picturesque and I’m fast becoming addicted to fresh fruit cocktails and spicy seafood salads..

A whirlwind four days in Taiwan. The boy and I managed to pack plenty of play and rest into almost every moment. We ate too much, drank too much, danced too much, and laughed too much, but you really can’t go overboard on any of those activities. We are already plotting our return, but for now I’ll look forward to sunny beaches and a few days in Thailand.
We have a single late night in Bangkok before flying off to Koh Samui. Going to find some yummy seafood for a late night snack.
P.S. Ive been wearing my ManiaMania immortals ring non-stop and it’s in the Christing C. sale!! Get it before they are gone…I’m obsessed with mine!
