When it comes to luxury hotels in Amsterdam, it’s hard to beat Conservatorium Hotel. The stunning architectural building instantly awes any visitor with its history and grandeur and the glass walled lobby is a sight in itself. Their welcoming staff are ready to make you feel at home in both the hotel and city upon arrival and the expert concierge are there to assist with any questions or needs. The former bank and music academy houses luxurious rooms, mouthwatering dining venues, exceptional service, a holistic spa, fully equipped gym, and even a cluster of shops ensuring you find everything you need under one roof. Ever and River loved the grand and mysterious hallways that led to our modern duplex suite. The spacious room was perfect for young families with a large lounge area, inviting dining space, two decadent bathrooms, and a serene and beautiful separate bedroom. Conservatorium Hotel’s central location meant we were close to many of the city’s popular museums, only a few steps from green and lush Vondelpark, and a plethora of shops and dining options right on the front step. The Brasserie was one of our favourite spots after a long day of sightseeing, where we couldn’t get enough of the irresistible locally sourced seafood. When it comes to five star service and amenities, unique and luxurious design, and central location, you can’t find better than Conservatorium Hotel. Our stay was one of our favorite parts of our trip to Amsterdam.

Our first stop in Europe this spring was the dreamy Danish capital, Copenhagen. Despite just setting foot off a long haul flight with two restless children and fuelled with little sleep, we were eager to explore and delve into the culture and cuisine the city has to offer. We checked into Copenhagen Marriott Hotel bright and early and were relieved to find our room was ready and boasted stunning waterfront views. The inviting staff were quick to supply Ever and River with kids Welcome Packs, and ensured we had everything we needed to settle in. Copenhagen is the perfect city to be explored by bike or foot and our hotel offered a variety of bike rentals for families. Everything from the National Museum to pretty canals and adventurous playgrounds were in short walking distance from our front step so we set off immediately to keep jet lag at bay. The hotel is located right on the waterfront and the promenade was an alluring spot to enjoy the sunshine or go for a run. After a day of meandering around the lively yet quaint Stroget, we eagerly returned to our luxurious room at the Marriott and indulged in wine and appetisers in the comfortable Executive Lounge. Dinner was at the hotel’s Midtown Grill where we feasted on elevated traditional flavours created from local ingredients. The kids menu was varied and healthy and the waitstaff were perfectly prepared to accommodate families. After enjoying too many decadent desserts we collapsed in the insanely plush beds ready for a night of uninterrupted slumber. Copenhagen Marriott Hotel was ideal for our family during our time in the city. They ensured we had all the information we needed to explore the tourist attractions and made us feel right at home. The five star amenities are unbeatable and we couldn’t get enough of the decadent buffet breakfast each morning. Make sure to book a waterfront view, and Executive Lounge access if you want the ultimate in luxury. A perfect home away from home for your family while visiting Copenhagen.

I’m not exaggerating when I say we fell in love with Soneva Jani at first sight. From the unbelievably clear, sparkling waters to the vast and luxurious pool villas, the space is truly one of a kind. Almost the entire resort is built overwater, while the majority of the island is used for staff, organic gardens, and recycling quarters. The brand puts great importance on sustainability and being kind to the earth which is evident from the absence of plastic to each dish served on the menu. Their water villas are vast with rustic bedrooms, outdoor baths and showers, a giant private pool, upper decks for star gazing, impeccably designed living spaces, and water slides that lead straight into the turquoise ocean. Bikes were provided, so we could ride to the pristine white sand beaches, dreamy outdoor cinema, or dine at their stunning overwater restaurant. Every bite of food was delicious and we couldn’t get enough of the fresh seafood, vibrant salads, local curries, and homemade ice cream. Sea life surrounds you at all times and you feel completely secluded without another resort in sight. Our kids enjoyed every minute and even played in the well staffed kids club while we enjoyed a few glasses of wine at sunset. I can’t recommend Soneva Jani more if you are searching for the ultimate in luxury and a true wow factor.

Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills is set at the heart of the city with all you could need for a luxurious city break with your family. As soon as we stepped off the elevator, we felt right at home in the stunning and chic lobby. Check-in took place in the comfortable, and spacious Andaz Lounge where we were treated to welcome drinks and the kids were provided with activity books to keep them happy. The rooms at Andaz Tokyo are refreshingly modern, boasting panoramic city views, decadent bathrooms, gigantic luxurious beds, and plenty of space to add an extra bed for your toddler. Amenities were abundant with character pillows, baby slippers, yakutas and terrycloth robes provided just for the children. The Tavern- Grill & Lounge served mouthwatering and varied breakfasts each morning and we loved the intimate space for relaxed dinners after a day of exploring. We couldn’t resist having an authentic omakase experience at the SUSHI located on the 52nd Floor. The fresh and traditional fare served at the eight seat sushi bar was impeccably prepared and delicious. Even Ever and River loved the welcoming and unique experience. If you are looking for five star hospitality, modern and stylish amenities, delicious dining outlets, and spectacular views, Andaz Tokyo is the ideal choice. The fact that they are so incredibly child friendly is the icing on the cake.

As our bus wound it’s way towards Nikko we spotted a dusting of snow for the first time in a year. Ever and River jumped with excitement, pouring with questions about our destination. In truth, we did very little research about Nikko before heading to the quaint Japanese town, but had complete trust in Hoshino Resorts, and were sure we would be in for a memorable experience. Finally our shuttle stopped alongside Lake Chuzenji and we sat in awe of the captivating beauty. Nikko was covered in snow, quiet, and peaceful. We weaved our way through the lobby of Kai Nikko and were instantly drawn to the cozy ryokan. Staff guided us through the experience, introducing us to the traditional rooms and dress, as well as onsen and dining etiquette at their resort. Ever and River instantly changed into the authentic children’s yakutas and delved into the cultural experience. Admiring the view of the lake and Mount Nantai, Dan and I settled in our spacious and elegant tatami room. Complete with our own onsen bath, huge cloud like bed, and large windows facing the sunset, we made ourselves right at home.

Throughout our stay, staff were there to assist us ensuring we were comfortable at all times. Afternoon tea was devoured in the warm and plush lobby, and we couldn’t get over the fun and delicious dining experiences. We were treated to local flavours, authentic dishes and the kids even had their own meal plates. The onsen were a true highlight, all open air and inviting. Being out of the city and feeling nature all around us was such a perfect way to start our journey in Japan. Surrounded by shrines, authentic fare, and picturesque views, you truly can’t beat Kai Nikko for a romantic or family ryokan stay.

One of the first resorts in Uluwatu, Karma Kandara still stands strong as one of the dreamiest destinations in Bali. Teetering cliff views, crystal blue waters, and spacious pool villas that can accommodate families of all sizes, we can’t recommend them more for a Bali getaway. Our spacious three bed villa included a large open plan kitchen and lounge, stunning wraparound terrace with private pool, plenty of alfresco dining spaces, and a luxurious master bedroom with its own balcony. The facilities were perfect for those travelling with little ones, and we felt right at home in the cozy space. Breakfasts and dinners were spent gazing at the crashing waves while enjoying fresh fare in their restaurant, Di Mare, and we couldn’t resist refreshing swims in their iconic infinity pool. Ever went for daily visits at the Three Monkeys Kids Club where all activities were fully included. She always returned to the villa with arts and crafts, little gifts, and plenty of happy stories to tell. The highlight of our stay was the bohemian, European style beach club on Karma Beach. The white sand, calm ocean, and mouthwatering healthy food was a perfect combination. The kids enjoyed every minute and Dan and I could easily keep a watchful eye on their adventurous swims and sand castle building from our perch at the restaurant or sun lounger. Staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout our stay ensuring we always felt right at home. We’ve been to Bali so many times but Karma Group ensured we had one of the most memorable experiences.

The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo has always been one of Dan and my favourite hotels and most memorable experiences, so it felt so good to return with our kids for an exciting family stay. Stepping out of the car, you are instantly welcomed and made to feel at home by the personable and professional team. We were whisked to the Executive Club Floor and offered treats and drinks while check in took place. Our room, The Carlton Suite, boasted breathtaking city views throughout, an immense amount of space, and a truly decadent bedroom. The suite also offers exclusive Ritz Kids programs for families. Ever and River were treated to The Ritz Kids Night Safari program, and were ecstatic to see a play area just for them. The well received camping set-up boasted a fully equipped tent, compass-designed floor mat, pajamas, curated camping amenities, and a Home Planetarium,’ by Japanese-based Sega. They were prepared with every amenity from mini slippers and safari hats to rubber ducks for their bubble baths and children’s toiletries. No detail was forgotten and the staff went out of their way to encourage the children to explore and play in the hotel. This was such a refreshing experience as parents of toddlers who were previously nervous about city breaks at luxury hotels. Ever and River couldn’t get enough of the food throughout our stay and each venue was able to prepare meals to their specific tastes and preferences. We spent evenings in the Executive Lounge gazing at the sunset and Mt Fuji while sipping champagne. The location is perfect for exploring the city and the staff seamlessly assisted with bookings and transport. If you are looking to make your stay in Tokyo comfortable and luxurious, The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo should be at the top of your list. Go for the views and food alone. We are sure you won’t be disappointed.

Dan and I finally returned to Niseko eight years later, but this time as parents. Ever and River fell in love with Hokkaido last year, and actually talked about snow often, so we decided another family winter holiday was necessary. Returning to Niseko after so much time, we were shocked to see the immense changes and how lively and buzzing the coveted snow destination had become. We were lucky enough to stay in a two bedroom suite at the new Hyatt House Niseko. Travelling with little ones means we always value space and useful facilities and Hyatt House has all we could need and more. The fully equipped kitchen, spacious lounge and dining area, and luxurious master bedroom were ideal for our little family. We loved having an extra twin room for Ever and River and a beautiful balcony which boasted stunning views of Mount Yotei. Much of our time was spent in the cozy bar sipping cocktails and we couldn’t fault the delicious locally sourced breakfasts and dinners at H Restaurant. We don’t usually spend all day on the slopes so were excited to be located at the centre of the Hirafu Village and have access to so much on our front steps. Only a few minutes walk away we had ski shops, popular eateries, food trucks, little apres ski bars, and the always busy Seico Mart. A regular shuttle runs to the Welcome Center if you are in a rush to get to the slopes and staff were quick to assist with any questions or needs. I would highly recommend Hyatt House to families who value amazing facilities (mamas will love having access to laundry and a full kitchen) and easy access to everything in Niseko. The modern and luxurious design and five star service made the stay memorable and comfortable for our whole family. We can’t wait to return.

The Seiryu, located at the heart of Seminyak, features Japanese inspired pool villas great for families and couples. We loved the tranquil design and Japanese details seen throughout the villa and lobby. The kind staff made our stay incredibly enjoyable, and were quick to answer any questions or assist us with anything we requested. The bedroom was tranquil and relaxing and our children couldn’t get enough of the refreshing private pool and Onsen style stone bathtub. Breakfast was served in villa each morning and the Japanese option was very fun and delicious. Having a kitchen on hand is always ideal when travelling with children and dinners were often had in villa after a long day of exploring. The location is conveniently close to Seminyak’s popular beaches, stylish shops, organic cafes, and fun local eats. With affordable price points and so much space, I would highly recommend The Seiryu if you are looking for easy access to sights, clean design and a private pool. A great option for families with kids.

Families this is the one for you. Hop on a sea plane and treat your family to epic views of the Maldives before gliding to a stop in the middle of the turquoise ocean. A speedboat will whisk you away to the rustic island of your dreams complete with luxurious villas, picturesque white sand beaches, fresh organic gardens, sea life in the shallow reef at your front step, and more stars than you’ve ever seen. We were in awe of the beauty that Soneva Fushi offered from the minute we set foot on the Robinson Crusoe inspired island. Guests have their own Mr. Friday who will assist you with all your island holiday needs. They have villas that range from one to nine bedrooms, so perfect for families of all sizes and each one uniquely designed and original for the ultimate in bohemian luxury. Our Two Bedroom Crusoe Villa with Pool was everything we could wanted and more. The abundant space meant there was plenty of room to lounge, sleep, play, and explore, and the generous beachfront pool, lazy hammocks, breezy ocean facing terraces, romantic outdoor bath, and sumptuous master bedrooms made for a truly decadent stay. Their untouched, natural beach was only steps from our villa and boasted stunning clear waters bright schools of tropical fish, reef sharks, stingrays, and even turtles.

It was tempting to hole up in our villa and relax, but the island had many alluring restaurants and activities to entertain us and our little ones. I want to start by praising The Den, which is the largest Kids Club in the Maldives. The welcoming space includes two swimming pools, a water slide, kitchen for cooking classes, more toys than most toy stores, and activities such as baby yoga and arts and crafts. We barely saw Ever the whole trip as she woke up every morning excited to go play, and biked there right after breakfast.

The other facilities were equally impressive including a stunning overwater restaurant, dreamy outdoor cinema, an observatory with a state of the art telescope for star gazing, an organic vegetable farm where you can feed the resident bunnies, and of course diving, snorkeling, and sunset cruises for you to soak up all the awe inspiring beauty surrounding the island. Every meal was fresh and innovative, with abundant salad bars, freshly caught seafood, authentic wood fired pizzas and pastas for the kids, and a wine selection to impress any connoisseur.

Every minute was elevated with their impeccable attention to detail and amazing service. Our Mr. Friday ensured our days ran smoothly, and even ushered Ever to and from the kids club so we could relax in the villa. Soneva are committed protecting the environment and are the best resort I’ve seen when it comes to reducing plastic use, recycling, composting, and sustainable farming. The resort is well equipped and trained for world class hospitality and the staff will make any family feel at home from arrival. We can’t think of a better spot that will cater so seamlessly for guests with small children. Put them at the top of your list for your next luxury family getaway.
