Phuket

After several family trips to Phuket, this is the first time we’ve ventured to Krabi, and I have to stay we probably started with the very best at Phulay Bay, now the second Ritz Carlton Reserve we’ve visited (Mandapa was the first). They honestly never disappoint, from grand details and traditional touches to awe inspiring scenery and impeccable service, we couldn’t ask for more. Our personal welcome was framed by the resort’s grand and tranquil entrance, boasting both stunning design and respect for a traditional Thai aesthetic. Their impressive main pool is the resort’s star feature with views of the dramatic limestone karsts and decadent day beds overlooking palm tree adorned scenery. We were lucky enough to be staying in the Royal Beach Villa complete with panoramic views of the Andaman Sea, a bathroom fit for a king, refreshingly large private infinity pool, and the most gigantic and plush bed we’ve ever encountered. Ritz Kids provided daily activities for the children, and they loved exploring the expansive grounds and sandy beach. Date night was idyllic at one of the intimate outdoor tables at Lae Lay, and Ever and River couldn’t get enough of the wood fired pizzas served poolside. For true relaxation we spent a rainy afternoon at the decadent spa, where massages could be enjoyed indoors or outdoors beside nature. We had a magical few days and would highly recommend Phulay Bay to those who want to experience Krabi in true luxury.

After the arrival of Ever, we put a halt on those adventure vacations for something a little more relaxing. No more questionable beachfront bungalows or 45 minute life threatening tuk tuk journeys to locate a secluded beach at a bottom of a treacherous cliff. We’ve traded in for a slice of baby friendly luxury and relaxation.

Katathani, located on stunning Kata Noi Beach, is the ideal family sanctuary. Plenty of restaurants for our hungry bellies, large lagoon style pools, abundant breakfast buffets, and a clean, beautiful beach. They even have a honeymoon sister hotel, The Shore at Katathani, only a few steps away for those who are craving romantic pool villas, sunset enhanced dining, and a no kids allowed rule. Definitely something for everyone. Already missing those quiet evenings perched on our balcony.
