It was love at first sight for my family and I when arriving in Kyoto. The nostalgic wooden house lined streets, serene and relaxing gardens, delightful eateries, and blooming nature made the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. Four Seasons Kyoto proved to be an incredible highlight of our stay and offered luxury at the heart of this beautiful city. We loved the contemporary design alongside traditional touches and the alluring authentic Japanese garden which housed an 800 year old ikeniwa. The kids spent hours feeding the koi and observing the swans and couldn’t get enough of the quaint and quiet paths. Our one bedroom suite included a luxurious lounge and dining area, decadent bath and plush bedding. Five star service and amenities were evident throughout our stay and we loved the convenient yet private location. Mornings were spent indulging at their impressive breakfast buffet before exploring the streets of nearby Gion. We returned in the afternoon to take advantage of the refreshing indoor pool and full service spa before heading to their traditional tea house for snacks and sake. The Brasserie was perfect for family dinners with a cozy atmosphere and varied menu full of fresh, local produce. We were lucky enough to be staying on a night where a live geisha performance took place in the lobby and our children even had the chance to meet her for a photo opportunity. We highly recommend Four Seasons for families and couples looking for luxury and impeccable service while visiting Kyoto.

Hokkaido has always been a firm favourite of mine when it comes to ski destinations. The snow is an impressive powder consistency, mouthwatering sashimi and ramen is at every corner, they are famous for ice cream, cheese and seafood, and I’m very partial to warming up with whiskey or sake. Dan and I visited often during our childless years, but we thought it was time for the two little ones to be introduced to snow. Hoshino Resorts Tomamuwas an easy choice as a family destination, with beautiful scenery, spacious suites, and plenty of activities for everyone. The resort is accessible in under two hours by high speed train from New Chitose Airport or Sapporo. As soon as we stepped off the train, our little family was greeted by friendly staff to shuttle us straight to check in and our room. Risonare is Tomamu’s all suite building boasting insane views, enough space for even large families, and cozy facilities including a gigantic in room jacuzzi and sauna. The apres ski perfect library and kids play area were great for relaxing and socialising, and the top floor dining room allowed us to enjoy a seafood breakfast while gazing at mountain views. A convenient shuttle bus runs regularly around the resort allowing you to explore all they have to offer. Head to the Resort Centre for ski slopes and the gondola up to the spectacular Unkai Terrace. The Tower was a regular spot for us as they housed a sledding area which proved popular with Ever and River. And if you want an indoor activity, head over to the Mina Mina Pool for fun in the wave pool. Have a meal at Hotalu Street, the ski in/ski out restaurant street, complete with warm fire pits and tempting Japanese and International options or check out one of the buffets for child friendly food and seating options. One of our highlights was the Ice Village, open each evening, complete with a slide entrance, ice skating rink, marshmallow roasting in an igloo, and even little shops for browsing. Every aspect of the resort was accommodating and convenient, and we loved the stroller friendly tunnels that allowed you to navigate the entire resort without ever going outside. Ever spent most of her time searching for Elsa, built her first snowman, and found a love for ikura, and River spent his days convincing us it was more fun to be buried in snow. They gazed out at mountain views from every room in our suite, and fell in love with their “swimming pool bathtub.” We can’t think of a better way for our children to have been introduced to a white, snowy winter and will most definitely be back again.

We’ve always thought of Sri Panwa as one of Phuket’s ultimate destinations so were excited to hear the new opening of their ultra chic resort, Baba Beach Club. Boasting 200 meters of pristine sandy beachfront, 16 luxury villas and suites, and a glamorous beach club complete with nightly DJ sessions, the resort is a welcome addition to Phuket’s collection of resorts. The kids loved the direct beach access, yummy burgers and pizzas, and slept soundly in our huge Gabana Suite. We loved nightly cocktails poolside while admiring the romantic sunsets, date nights indulging on fresh sashimi and spicy Thai fare, and our decadent master bedroom which overlooked the inviting pool. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was seamless and we enjoyed the privacy and service offered on the relaxing beachfront. A perfect resort for family or friends looking for Phuket’s newest hot spot offering music, style, and luxury.

As soon as we stepped out of the car, friendly smiling faces greeted us and led us up the grand stone steps. We were in awe of the green expanses, charming traditional detail, and five star hospitality. The Chedi Club is a unique slice of luxury, showcasing Ubud’s beauty and tradition in very corner. Our rustic villa overlooked a serene pond which was home to swans, lizards, and alluring wildlife. Taking a leisurely walk through the grounds and rice paddy fields is a nostalgic and unforgettable experience in itself. Our two bed villa boasted a spacious child friendly lounge and two bedrooms perfect for those travelling as a family. We loved the decadent outdoor bathtub, sun filled plunge pool, and the personalised butler service. Don’t miss their impressive traditional Balinese performance, private romantic dinners set in the beautiful rice paddies, or a tranquil breakfast featuring spectacular views. Every moment was well thought out, personal, and welcoming. An ideal resort for those looking for five star service and stunning Ubud scenery.

If you are looking for the comforts and amenities of a five star hotel but still crave the privacy of a luxury villa, The Elysian is the ideal spot. Located in central Seminyak, you are only a short walk to plenty of entertainment and shopping, but benefit from the sanctuary of your private pool villa. The Elysian complex also offers an on site restaurant, main pool, and full service spa giving a distinct boutique resort feel. We loved their stylish design and our spacious two bedroom villa boasting two large bedrooms, an outdoor shower, outdoor and indoor dining areas, decadent bathtubs, and of course a generous lap pool ready for you to relax and enjoy. The kitchenette makes it easy to prepare meals for your family or order from the extensive, modern in villa dining menu. A perfect spot for your honeymoon or family holiday if you are planning to explore Seminyak and Bali.

Villa Phinisi is anything but your average villa. Boasting creative accents and a nostalgic garden, the villa feels like your own bohemian dream home at the bustling centre of Bali. We entered through the vine adorned leafy path and were welcomed into a floral and calm oasis. My eyes were instantly drawn to the unique and romantic lagoon pool lined with frangipani trees and lush greenery. Above the pool lay a rustic yet beautiful home with luxurious and decadent accents. The villa features seven ensuite bedrooms ranging from a large master bedroom complete with one of the most phenomenal bathtubs we’ve seen, to garden rooms perfect for children, or quiet upstairs bedrooms featuring private balconies. Their dining area is calling for a dinner party with boho, artistic details and a dreamy wooden slab and table. We loved the spacious lounge which could be fully opened so you could step straight into the pool or closed as a cozy indoor space. The insanely large couch and mesmerising underwater window are examples of what make Villa Phinisi so unique. Complete with full service staff, daily breakfast, and convenient Seminyak location, you’ll love your home away from home while in Bali. I highly recommend this stunning sanctuary for families, wedding parties, and even fashion shoots. A one of a kind place you won’t find anywhere else.

There are so many villas in Bali now, making the choice almost impossible. Can you trust the reviews and will the villa meet all your needs? If you value luxury and attention to detail, please choose Villa Samuan. Located a short walk from all of Seminyak’s trendy restaurants and bars, you are immersed into you own private sanctuary, complete with a giant refreshing pool and full service staff. As soon as you enter this villa, you are immediately blown away. We loved the stylish design, luxurious amenities, beautiful swimming pool, and decadent bedrooms. There is plenty of space for families or honeymooners as the villa can be rented as a two or five bedroom space. One of the main highlights of our stay were the accommodating and discreet staff who gave you all the privacy you required but were available at the push of a button. Indulge in their mouthwatering daily breakfasts poolside, treat your guests to an in villa bbq prepared by a personal chef, or host a dinner party or family dinner at the grand dining room. The living spaces boast high ceilings, meticulously selected furniture and decor, and floor to ceiling sliding glass doors which lead right out into the stunning plunge pool. Even the bathrooms are fit for a king with massive wardrobes, deep bathtubs, and refreshing rainfall showers. We didn’t miss the convenience of a five star resort as everything was provided to us at all hours and our children enjoyed every minute. An impressive slice of luxury at the heart of Seminyak.

On our first few visits to Bali we never made it to Sanur but heard about the pretty beaches and great food, so were very excited to finally explore the area with The Pavilions Bali. The stunning cluster of villas is set in lush gardens and greenery, boasting nostalgic floral clusters at every corner. Our two bed pool villa was a cozy and rustic home away from home with two large bedrooms, a cute dining area, and useful kitchenette which can be so convenient when you are travelling with kids. Their free shuttle takes you the short five minute drive to Sanur Beach where you can enjoy lunch with your feet in the sand or indulge in an affordable massage. Our refreshing plunge pool was relaxing after a long day and for a romantic evening we dined at the serene and ambient, Jahe. The friendly staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and we loved the personalised touches throughout our stay. An ideal sanctuary in Bali for those who want to explore Sanur.

Uluwatu and Pecatu are one of our favourite areas to stay while in Bali. The laid back surf beaches, organic cafes, captivating sunsets, and cliff edge views have completely captured my heart, which is why when we consulted with The Luxe Nomad we asked them to find us the perfect view worthy villa in the area. Not only does Villa Bayu boast spectacular views, location, and a gigantic swimming pool, but we were pleasantly surprised that it is the most child friendly villa we’ve encountered yet. As we descended the stairs to claim our rooms the children ran straight to the open living space and delved into the giant toy selection. The lounge is great for toddlers as it can be completely closed and air conditioned for those rainy days or just when you want to keep them contained. There were two ensuite bedrooms offering plenty of space and privacy, and the master bedroom houses a small connecting children’s room complete with bunk beds, story books, and a baby cot. Our kids loved that the door to their room opened onto a small garden where they could play and explore. We spent most of our days soaking in the generous lap pool and took full advantage of the comfortable poolside loungers. Every meal was prepared by our private in villa chef who catered to our preferences and all the children’s dietary requirements. Dinner was served each evening at sunset, just as the sky was painted insane shades of pink and orange. We felt so relaxed and settled in the beautiful outdoor dining space, perched above the villa for optimal views and breeze. Everyone slept deeply in their luxurious rooms and when the kids had their fill of swimming, there was even a grassy sports area for them to enjoy. Villa Bayu is ideal for those travelling as a family and value copious space, great service, and luxurious comforts.

Travelling with two toddlers isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, as we may have you believing from the pretty Instagram feed. There’s a lot involved. Keeping them occupied, tons of activities, child friendly meals, large family size rooms, and great facilities. Sometimes a beach bungalow just doesn’t work, which is why I’m sure many parents are relieved resorts like Movenpick Bali exist. This resort is a kid’s heaven from the moment you walk in. Dedicated children check in counters, a two floor kids club which could entertain any little one from infancy to tween age, dining areas dedicated to fun and games, and very family friendly food options. The resort houses several pools including a lap pool, relaxing lagoon pool, and two children’s pools complete with slides, sprinklers, and so much more. Stay in the junior suite and be amazed by the amount of luxurious space you will have for the whole family including balconies that overlook the beautiful resort. Located only a few minutes from the beach, you don’t have to miss out on the sandy action and all that the Jimbaran area has to offer. I highly reccommrd the seafood bbq for family dinners where you will be spoilt with fresh local seafood, traditional performances, and super friendly staff. Don’t worry, they didn’t leave the parents out. Indulge in spa treatments at their incredible spa and make sure to grab cocktails at their rooftop bar, Above Eleven while the professional kids club staff cater to all your babysitting needs. Our kids could not have enjoyed our stay more and of course when they are happy we are happy. The ultimate, five star family resort for those with small children travelling to Bali.
