After a thrilling ski trip in Hokkaido, we always make sure to spend a few days in Sapporo, the island’s bustling capital. This city offers the perfect mix of local charm and excitement without feeling overly touristy. The friendly locals, affordable dining spots, and vibrant covered streets full of shops, cafes, and family-friendly activities make it a must-visit. We stayed at Mercure Sapporo, which is perfectly located in the lively Susukino district, right in the center of all the action. The spacious rooms offers stunning views of both the city and mountain and we loved that they had connecting rooms ideal for families. The delicious buffet breakfast fueled us for each day’s adventures and we also loved the semi a la carte set lunch featuring fresh locally inspired fare. We were located right at the heart of the Susukino district known for izakayas and nightlife, with shopping, bowling, arcades, also within walking distance. The Mercure Sapporo truly made for an ideal base to explore this dynamic and welcoming city.
