I’m atrociously horrible at goodbyes.  I find the entire ordeal awkward and sometimes unnecessary.  In a generation with Skype, Facetime, video chatting, emails, Facebook, Twitter, and many more apps and programs, the world seems like a far smaller space.  My brother and I currently live continents apart, but chat several times a day (Thank you iPhone and Whats App.)  He gives me details of his weekend away in Phuket, while I keep him updated on London snow, packing difficulties, and random meals out with the boy.  I have lived in numerous countries, switched schools more than a handful of times, and have family scattered on all sides of this earth, but never feel far from home.  A few minutes with my computer or phone can allow me to reconnect and keep in touch with friends and family across the world.  I know there are people waiting for me in LA, Seattle, New York, Boston, Taipei, Tokyo, Korea, London, Hong Kong and each time I visit I will feel right at home, regardless of how many years have passed.  Luckily my family aren’t big on drawn out goodbyes either, and a casual “see you next time” will always suffice.  I guess we know we are just a plane ride away…
