Gili Lankanfushi always stands as one of our family’s favorite resorts in the world.  The stunning five star property located in beautiful Maldives offers guests an unforgettable luxury castaway experience.  On this visit we were lucky enough to stay in one of Gili’s Crusoe Residences, stand alone overwater villas only accessible by boat.  The exquisitely designed villas boast a large lounge and sumptuous master bedroom, scenic overwater bathroom and shower, and picturesque outdoor deck including overwater nets, private hammock and steps into the pristine ocean. We also loved having a rooftop where the team can set up an unforgettable opportunity to sleep under the stars.  Guests have access to a personal butler, what Gili Lankanfushi call Mr.Friday , who ensures your every need is met throughout your stay.  We loved the privacy of our villa but a quick boat ride gave full access to the idyllic resort.

Dining experiences are always a highlight from fresh and vibrant lunches at Overwater Restaurant to themed buffets on the beach, and even tailored luxury experiences including a Jungle Cinema and private gourmet dinner.  Our children enjoyed traversing the island on bikes, partaking in fun filled activities, enjoying the outdoor playground or snorkeling in the abundant house reef.  We indulged in decadent massages at the tranquil overwater spa and lazed on the picturesque white sand beaches.

Aside from luxury villas and accommodation, Iniala Beach House also offers the comforts and facilities of a luxury resort.  Our children enjoyed a plethora of activities at the fully staffed Kids Club and we made full use of the state of the art fitness centre.  Thai cooking classes are also available and the team are on hand to set up special requests for any occasion.  Dining was truly a highlight throughout our stay from Aulis Phuket, by 3 Michelin Star Chef Simon Rogan to mouthwatering authentic Thai fare by Chef Jay and even western comfort food to please our children.

Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh, known as The Caledonian, is one of the most iconic and luxurious properties in the city.  The historic property dates back to 1903 and is located on buzzing Prince’s Street within a stone’s throw from many of Edinburgh’s most famous sights.  We were instantly enthralled by the grand lobby, accommodating check-in and welcome to the property, and stunning well preserved architecture.  Our beautiful two bedroom suite boasted two spacious en-sute bedrooms, three decadent bathrooms complete with deep bathtubs and Aesop amenities, and a cozy separate lounge and dining table.  The highlight was the spectacular views of Edinburgh Castle from every window of the suite.  We throughly enjoyed exploring and experiencing the captivating property from the original stained glass windows and grand stairwells to the five star spa and swimming pool and incredible dining experiences.  Their mouthwatering  breakfast including a la carte options, a generous buffet, and variety of Scottish specialties is a must try and we highly recommend the elegant afternoon tea and Scottish fine dining at their gourmet restaurant, Grazing.  We were within easy walking distance to the popular old town sights, Ross’s Fountain, plethora of museums, and quaint Dean Village.  A perfect choice for families looking for world class luxury at the heart of Edinburgh.

We loved staying with Nira Caledonia in Edinburgh’s beautiful Stockbridge neighborhood.  The luxurious boutique hotel is located within a historic building on a quiet tree lined residential street.  We loved the personable service, sumptuous and spacious guestrooms, and local quaint vibes of the surrounding area.  Just around the corner from the hotel you’ll find the famous Stockbridge Market, a variety of stylish cafes and boutiques as well as traditional pubs and eateries.  We also visited the area’s picture perfect Circus Lane and stunning Botanic Gardens.  You can start your day with a fresh and delicious continental breakfast at the hotel restaurant which also serves dinner and in-room dining.  A great option for a more local ambiance and an opportunity to escape the busy side of Edinburgh while still being close to the city center.
